So i've been thinking about selling the celi again and getting a 300zx NA. The reason behind this is that I can get the 300zx for 3800 with the same amount of miles and it's RWD and has a V6. I like the way they look and I'll be saving a lot of money on car payments and such. Also they are a LOT faster than the celi.
Does anyone have any previous experience with these? Anything these are notorious for? Please NO FLAMING!!!! I do love my car but I just want some change. I've owned a 6gc for about 3 years now and just want something else before my car is worth less than I paid for it. Don't tell me to just Turbo/Do a swap either. That is out of the question for me. -------------------- |

All I can say was I had a 300zx for about 2 yrs and I loved it fun to drive and it gave me no real hassles.
Sometimes we all need a change good luck with whatever you decide to do -------------------- |

Do it! Though the 300ZX has some gremlins (the ability for the VG30 to handle stupid amounts of power) its also a really good GT car, though if you plan to turn it sideways it might not handle very well (because of its weight and its lack of power [N/A])
IMO when it comes to cheap RWD speed if you can find a Silvia its a bit cheaper, a bit more sideways and a bit faster but if you want a heavier, larger, more sound car the 300ZX is a pretty wise choice. -------------------- (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny. Hmmm your post gets me thinking whether or not I should dip into the "Celica" fund and buy a cheap 240sx to repair and drift around. Its sooo tempting... Especially since the Chūki looks so bad-ass.

Don't worry, Its not that hard. I've had to work on like 50,000 minivans. Pulling out the engine bay is a lot easier than taking the engine off its mounts and rotating the entire thing... to replace spark plugs. [/Dodge Caravan hating]

[/300zx hating] I don't plan to do a lot of engine work at this time (key word plan ) so I'm not too worried about that kind of stuff. Only mods I hope to do on this is rims, lower, and basic bolt ons. I hope to not be buying as much stuff for it like I did with the celi (which in all reality wasn't that much in comparison to others). -------------------- |

[/300zx hating] itchy beat me to it. They are heavy and hard to work on. I think they look nice, but then again so do alot of other lighter, easier to work on cars. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

Thank you all for the replies. I've realized that with how heavy the car is it won't be worth it. Also my insurance will skyrocket. At this point I'm starting to steer away from the 300zx. Your points you guys have made really help. I'm not too familiar with Nissan and am not sure how they compare to Toyota or Honda. I still have a lot of research to do before I make any decisions.
After a lot of thinking I'm unsure on what I should get if I get another car at all. Part of me wants to get something soon. Another part of me wants to just save my money and fix up my truck and buy a bike (I'm thinking a Shadow or V-Star, maybe a Harley if I can get a decent deal). I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this time. Hell, I might just find another 6gc down the road for cheap and do a swap swap. Who knows? I just want to lose my car payment for a while. Other vehicles that are intriguing to me is a 240sx/s14, maybe I'll import a JDM ITR like my friends, maybe I'll wait until the right deal comes on a car I like. -------------------- |

That's probably a wise decision. For the price of insurance on a n/a 300ZX its probably smarter to get something else.
Remember, you pay insurance on the name. If you buy a cheaper car(ie S13, S14, S30, Z31,B14) based on its platform and don't tell the insurance company you plan to modify it, you should be okay. Also you probably can't compare the feeling of a Nissan to a Toyota or Honda(or any of the big 6 for that matter), you would just have to drive it to figure it out. What you can compare is the fan-base and aftermarket support and you would find that there are a lot more American Honda and Toyota fans and parts than there are for Nissan. -------------------- (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny. its a nice car. its nice and fast. But like itchy said. It is a pain to work on. The engine bay is crammed in there. And I've helped my friend w/ his before and its a major pain to do anything. We had to replace a part on it, I really dont remember what we were doing, but it was a big hassle. Then we looked at my celica and was like man its right there why couldnt it be that easy in the Z. But he loved his. Its been sitting for about a year and half cause he blew the engine but that was his fault not the quality of the engine. But it is a pain to work on.
