Um - Happy New Year, I guess? LOL - Griffy you still crack me up with your Jewish mother tendencies. If your my Jewish Mother from New York - where's all my food at? I'd kill for a real NYC bagel toasted with melted butter and garlic. Airmail will be fine since it's just week old donuts anyway

That's a late train to go down on, depending on where you live. That'd be a 90min train ride for me.
Then you absolutely miss the 1.50 and gotta wait til the 5am train (which isn't express), so your sleeping in grand central with the rest of the drunkards and going to the McD's around the corner to go to the bathroom cuz they won't let you go in GCT and eating hotdogs outside from the vendors. I love the city but for $1600 a month I can get a huge apartment upstate instead of the 100sq foot studio on the upper east side. ^ which is a large part of why I left. In Portland, that same money gets you an entire HOUSE to rent. With a yard.
But I sure do miss the city... and the bagels. Oh how I miss the bagels. There's a decent bagel place here (started by a NYer no less) but it's not the same. But you know what I miss just as much? Boar's Head. Hardly any place here has Boar's Head meats and the very few that do charge an a$$ load for it. What I wouldn't give for a really good turkey sandwich on some quality bread - not the white bread sh*t you get over here. Oh - and pickles. The pickles here suck. And I mean they SUCK. Not only does no one here know what the hell challa bread is (a few have "heard" of it, but they pronounce it phonetically which is a clear indicator that they're clueless), they wouldn't know a good kosher dill if it smacked them in the face! -------------------- |

Midnight Raves FTW I love the homeless man performances in Grand Central tho - only bums I'll tip. Midnight Raves FTW Yeah it's actually called Southeast now, and that's the train station I use is. I live 10mins away. Small world. Here people just hang some stupid sign around their neck and stand in the busy intersections. Yours actually stand? Our guys here sit, usually at the lights at the top of off-ramps off the freeways. -------------------- |

Same difference only our off ramps are downhill below the overpasses where they sleep. How can you tell your bums from the regular hippies?

The hippies use signs that say "Hungry anything you can spare" or "homelss need beer money" and the bums use signs that say "Homeless Hungry Vet will work for money or food God Bless"
Edit: Oh and the hippies smell worse. This post has been edited by GriffGirl: Oct 2, 2008 - 11:45 AM -------------------- |

NYC is sweet, just too expensive AFAIK.
Griffy, they have Boar's Head at Publix down here, that's the only deli meat I ever get. Delicious. |
