many people are gunna flame you because i think this has been posted many many many times..
the end results: it depends on your preferences. you may like one more than the other... some people will say that the 3sgte was made for boost so it handles boost very well, and that makes it reliable. others will say that the 5s is completely able to be turbo-ed and runs extremely well under those circumstances, allowing it to be reliable and extremely torque-y. 3sgte: already turbo-ed from the start, room for upgrade (tho why would u get more than 250hp on a fwd), price range is 3000-4000 for engine and more for labor etc, if something goes wrong it may be hard to troubleshoot, can never be made "stock" again (for perhaps smog purposes), have to spend hours or hundreds on wiring, swap tranny 5sfte: fully upgraded brings you to about 200-250hp and 250-300 torque (235/270 - pressure2's and i forgot supershannons) and it can be made to run reliably, can be converted back to stock, if engine blows there you can replace it easier, its cheaper to make(i believe, but that could just be on average, or maybe im wrong xD), max power is limited, can keep all factory settings (abs, cruise control, i think), no need to wire engine harness, no need to swap tranny too i'd personally go for the 5s unless i could buy an already 3s reliable swap. (damn you toyotacrazy and bccentaur3, just kidding i know its worth the money guys xD) but then again i do live in nazi california. so as i was saying, its up to what you want your celica to do... crazy power on fwd, go 3s. moderate driving with occasional ownage go 5s. and robbyhellfire, there is no turbo kit for the 5s, you have to piece it together. there is however, the supercharger for 3100, almost the same price as our cars This post has been edited by xredjokerx: Dec 6, 2008 - 2:49 AM |
