Maybe I'm new to this or my town has a unique police force-but here is the story. I get pulled over one day this week, and the police car that got me was a Dodge Charger, that had NO stickers designating it as a police car. But the people in the car were DEFINATELY police officers. In my area of the the U.S. (im not sure about other parts of USA), the cop cars we have are Ford Crown Victorias, Chevrolet Impalas, and a few Dodge Chargers. I'd told a friend and he asked me if that was illegal and I didn't know. At a glance you couldn't tell it was a police car, but the siren light were tucked up in the grill and headliner. So I'm asking if any of you have seen police cars like this, or had this experience?

ha really?
we have had undercover/unmarked cop cars here for at least 20 years. you learn to pick them, usually reasonable tint, normal plates (ie not government plates) large arial at the back usually an aurion or falcon or new commodore, always the latest of the models. -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

yes "unmarked" police cars are perfectly legal, here in vegas we have different kinds of unmarked cars, from neon srt4s, to 350Z, honda pilot, and the charger srt8s, ive seen the 350Zs and the srt8 Chargers run up and down the elligal street races, ive seen an unmarked pilot police car pull over people on the freeway, and i personally got pulled over by a black unmarked srt4,got pulled over because of not using my turn signals...

I know in some places in the states the police use cars impounded from street racing or stuff like that, instead of the car going to the crusher.
on that... i'd rather see mine crushed lol. -------------------- ~Andy

I've seen a domestic cop car in aftermarket parts such as a spoiler, body kit and badass graphics. The windows were tainted Jet black and the body had some nice designs and curvy waves it even sported some rims that stick out but they were black rims that looked nice. The funny thing was, I was driving for my job and was doing 60 in a 40 zone in a small town and spotted this car. It caught my attention and I actually slowed down to take a better look at it since you don't see domestic cars that looked that great everyday. Turns out the Graphics said, POLICE and the tags, "goverment property Unit-***" Sure enough inside there was a fat cop waiting for his prey holding out his scanner. He was behind a building which made him looked like a parked car trying to show off. I was Shocked.

There are unmarked cars all over the place. Not uncommon at all. Everybody else is talking about the awesome unmarked cars they have in their area... We just have a Taurus, a couple of Crown Vics, an Impala, and a Ford Exploder here. All are easy to spot from their government plates, several antennas, and the spotlights. As far as the cops using my car for an unmarked car... I'd think they WOULDN'T want the bad guys to get away

I've seen cop cars looking like civilian cars that have pulled people over. Normally, they only go after threatening car such as dangerous speeding and stuff. Even in my city. For some reason, their mannerism in which they sit and drive, and something about the car for some reason allows me to know if they are cop or not. I can sense it, I usually drive up around them and I see their license plate says "Exempt". That's how I know.
