Hello!
I am noticing some irritating noises from the passenger airbag cover, so I have decided to dampen it with some foam. Is this easy to open, and is it safe? If so, how? |

the best way to open it is to get into a front end accident and the cover will open and give you a nice balloon
the cover is screwed in from the bottom. If you take the glove box out you might be able to reach the screws, good luck. -------------------- |

yep its sealed... and you have to remove the entire dash to get to it... pulling out the glove box will not do it.... you have to remove the airbag before you can get to the tabs holding the cover shut. its no easy job. If/when the airbag goes off... the whole piece needs to be replaced including the tabs... oh and your windshield. check out my profile if you don't believe me... passenger side glass damage is from airbag...

my pass airbag cover was making the same annoying noise. a horrifying "is the car falling apart?" rattle at low rpms.
I had some spare black rubber from old rubber mats, it was thick, so i just cut a few pieces and stuck them in all four corners of the cover, trimmed so that you can't see it, but thick enough to stop the rattle. And the rubber isn't a permanent fix so the airbag can open if it has to. -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. Yeah, i know what you mean. People thought someone threw a brick at my passenger side windshield when it went off. Wish someone was in the seat to stop it from blasting out my windshield LOL! j/k -------------------- *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

just use the silicon, when i wrecked my car i replaced the airbags and they are screwed in, but what keeps them down is two plastic tabs that break when the airbags deploy. if you could somehow pry the airbag door up you could put whatever you want in there, as long as you could do it without damaging your dash. after i put my new airbags in i sealed it with silicon because i couldnt get the tabs and they werent really necessary.
