Ok so I just had one question before I do this. The book/the guy at autozone made it seem a little too easy.
I get that you undue the 3 bolts and take out the two connectors and all the basics, my main question is regarding the belt. How will I know if the belt is properly put back on/tight enough? Is there a special tool I'll need or can I do it myself? Thanks, Matthew -------------------- |

its pretty much a guess.

record the # of threads from the top of the screw that adjusts the tension of the belt.

Yeah, there are some tools that you can use , a nippondenso or borroughs belt tension gauges. Or you can just use a straight edge and a ruler. pop the straight edge between two pulleys and use the ruler to measure the amount of deflection, shouldnt be more than 1/2 inch if the distance between the pulleys is 12-16 inches, or 1/4 inch if the distance is 7-11 inches. (you would need to measure from the center of the pulley).

wow measuring and all... way too tough... twist the belt between the alternator and pulley... if it turns more than 90* then you need to tighten it... if it squells... loosen it... that easy
