Hey guys/gals, finally got around to introducing myself.

I'm 17 from Australia (NSW) and have a 1996 ZR Celica. I bought it maybe 2 months ago and I love it!

Previous to this car I had a 1974 TA22 Celica which I sold due to I'm going to uni this year and won't have enough time/money to do what I wanted to do to it... plus it didnt even have air conditioning.

Anyway I have a question, my passenger seat doesnt tilt (to let people in the back seat etc) which is a pain. I've only had a quick look at it, but I'm guessing to fix it I need to take the seat out? Is this a common problem with a simple fix or is it going to be annoying?

Here it is, please note the muffler was on it when i bought it.

excuse the quality on this photo.. its made worse by smoke from bushfires in the air

I've been reading a fair bit on these forums and its great stuff, pretty informative

Cheers,
Jake

Nice clean looking Celly, thumbs up from me. Why is there no tilt? Is your lever missing or broken?

welcome man, be sure to join www.ozcelica.com

as for your seat its not a common problem, its prob just siezed so take the seat out and take the side covers off it see if you can see anything abnormal, spray some wd40 in there too.

Im in Wagga Wagga.. about a 5 hour drive from Sydney. I'd love to go to a meet and see more of these mad cars.

Whats crazy is, just this week there is a celica the same as mine (apart from its an SX without skirts, sunroof etc) about 4 houses down parked on the street. I must be setting a trend since the guy bought one that looks like mine tongue.gif

hey Sinyk,

he can answer with more detail but i think it's a tag for new drivers. there was a thread on this a while back. i think it's a great idea. should be universal...let the flame-throwing begin, i'm wearing my asbestos underpants wink.gif .

Up here we have a red "L" for learner and a green "N" nor novice (or newbie?). I was curious what the P stood for. Practice maybe?

Hi. What's the "P" on the back of your car for?

In order to get your license, you start on your L's (Learners) for a year where you have to do 120 hours of supervised driving (by someone with their full license) before you can go for your P's (provisional license) where you do a driving test. Then you can drive around by yourself and whatever, just like having your full license except here in NSW they have gay rules like you cant drive a turbo, v8, supercharged, performance modified etc car on your P's. After a year, you go for your green P's (Provisional 2) which pretty much just lets you go another 10km/h faster....

You get in trouble if you are caught not displaying the plates while driving.

Well the 94-95 celicas had a different spoiler and a different bumper to the 96+ celicas and your car has the 96 bumper but the 94-95 spoiler (not a bad thing, i personally prefer it) thats what I think anyway, i may be wrong.

any planned mods?

Ahhhh okay cheers, didn't know that. Now I know what you mean im kinda glad its got the older model spoiler on it, looks better IMO.

Being on my p's i can't do much, so i havn't really started planning beyond the fixing of things. I've been looking at changing the colour of the lights inside the car to maybe a blue, that could be fun.
