Hi everyone, quick question.

When I drive along I hear a knocking noise from the floor. It happens normally under heavy acceleration. I can also feel it through the floor. My friend reckons it's the gearbox and I'm inclined to agree, but I wanted to see what everyone else has to say about it. I know next to nothing about car mechanics, so would this mean I'd have to get my gearbox replaced or some such?

I had a bad one on my car it was a auto and every time it would go into another gear it would make a loud clunk sound yours is a 5 speed so it could have a vibrating type of sound so more then likely its a motor mount

Pull the ebrake, put it in first gear and drop the clutch at friction point then go in reverse and do the same (without stalling lol) back and forth so the car will pull forward and backward. If you hear a clunk, you'r tranny mount is due.

im pretty sure this same thing happened to my friends mr2. one day it just started knocking during acceleration. turned out 2 motor mount bolts broke off in the block and the rest of them were loose. i would check that.
