damn today i got pulled over and they cited me with violation of 27156 (b). Im pretty sure this means i have to go to a state referee...

I have a 3rd gen 3sgte ...
... any advice???

I have the stock cat on the down pipe and a small cat from the 5sfe exhaust on the rest of the 5sfe exhaust.

No egr system but i guess ill have to add one on.

My question is if a 3rd gen is even legal

ah damn Craig, that sucks. Ya i remember your exhaust being super loud, especially when you gunned it down that tunnel in L.A.

maybe you could get an egr from the european 3rd gen 3sgte and the manifold from the 5sfe might fit. But even then its going to be really tuff to pass emission especially since it a motor that wasnt brought to the U.S. so ya the motor is not legal.

and if you take off turbo it might throw a check engine code and the check engine light will come on. i dont know much about cars but thats just my guess.... sorry to hear that you got pulled over

if you have to go to a state ref, in cali, and you have a 3rd gen installed in your car, your pretty much screwed.

I did think 3sgte had egr, only Europe 3sge 1996+ had them as far as 3S engines goes

yes 96 vehicles and newer are obd2. He has a 95 so its obd1. but being that we live in CA emissions are just way to strict

If you have a 95 it MUST be OBD1 5sfe motor.

i dont think they will care if he puts a obd2 in so long as its from the same model car. old engines die and he can say he bought a newer engine but same model
