Hey guys;
My GTS just died on me on the highway from work today. It just went dead while I was driving... I managed to get off to the side of the road, but now I'm stranded here. The engine will turn and if I turn the key to the "start" position and put it in gear I can move the car forward and reverse, but the engine won't fire. I've popped the hood and notice a small bit of smoke coming up from around the tranny area, literally right below the top rad hose. (5SFE) I will look up how to check the computer when I get home to see what the code is, but does anyone have any ideas off the top of their head? -------------------- |

If it just died and is cranking id say maybe the dizzy, cause if at least some plugs were working it'd run rough with misfiring...
i dunno about smoke though.... maybe it backfired and smoke came back thru the intake? -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. The smoke could have just been from the small oil leak I have...
So if it backfired (which is possible, but I don't remember hearing that...) could that have cause the Timing Belt to get f-d up? That might explain why it turns over, but refuses to fire - because the compression is facked. This post has been edited by KAOS: Aug 7, 2009 - 8:46 PM -------------------- |

i didnt say it did backfire, i wasnt there, lol. you should have heard that if it did. i was just thinking it'd be a probable cause for the smoke in that area, right by the intake.
Even if it did backfire it wouldn't mess the t-belt up, as far as i know.... just some excess fuel in the wrong place is all. This post has been edited by samir0189: Aug 7, 2009 - 9:07 PM -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

although you could be right, have you ever changed the t-belt? that can be a big cause there too!

QUOTE If it just died and is cranking id say maybe the dizzy, cause if at least some plugs were working it'd run rough with misfiring... wasnt talking about misfiring, was pointing out that if they are not sparking you've got an electrical fault somewhere. so just work your way back and will most liky be the dizzy QUOTE Although - the car moves when I put it in gear and crank the engine... your moving because of the starter motor -------------------- |
