Hi I'm from the UK and I have just bought an jap import 6gc SS-2 or 3. The trouble is the insurance is shed loads and I don't know why. The car I had before it was way quicker and was far cheaper, in fact if I get a UK spec GT4 it is a whooping £200 cheaper to insure, and thats got about 70 bhp more. What is this all about? I'm debating selling it now and getting the 4wd turbo monster.

Anyone here from the UK who knows any cheap insurance companies which specialize in imports?

cheers

Andy, do you know if the Euro version of the GT-FOUR's come equipped with certain emissions equipment, such as the EGR? If so, this may explain the higher rate for Japanese imports... but I'm not sure. I'm just throwing out ideas...

Hmm, try going through a different insurance company. Ask around with your friends and see about how much theirs is for similar rated vehicles, since cars fall under classes. By the way, if you could afford the GT-Four, I say go for it. I believe it is far superior to the SS models, but I haven't ridden in either, so you don't have to take my word for it. Good luck!
