CURRENT with painted wheels:
I figured I might as well start a progress thread since I have a lot of spare time at the moment. When I first bought the car it was just a form of temporary transportation until I could find something newer, until I found this site o_O. I stumbled across the car on autotrader.com and couldn't help but notice the perfect condition it was in. Perfect paint, pristine grey leather interior, and flawless under the hood. I was only tentative because of how little power it had, but it gets great gas mileage so that's a plus. I first fell in love with 6th gens playing gran turismo 1 back in the day, and always wanted to have a gt-four. Here are a few photos since I bought her about a year ago: New wheels: In desperate need of spacers/better offset: 20mm spacers installed in the rear, along with clear sidemarkers and corners: lowered on megan springs and KYB shocks w00t Lacking front flushness, in need of spacers: The other day installing new speakers: New shift knob + 7th gen short shifter Much more to come. QUOTE (14:19:21) Daniel: That was a JDM hole in the side of the box too. There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. It's looking reaaally good! May I ask what the offset was on your wheels before you added the spacers?

Thanks! That gives me a good idea of which spacers I'll need to order. Oh what are the specs of your wheels? ie Size and width, along with your tire size .

Tires are 215/40/17, but I want to scrap them for 225/45/17 for a more aggressive look and better performance/better ride quality. The current tires make the car look too wimpy and top heavy IMO. I had to raise my car up higher, and I'm not happy with how it looks at all. -------------------- |

Hm well I'm trying to go for this look with the tires: http://www.6gc.net/photo/member/60/15 I think my car sits a lot higher than yours and plus I will have spacers front and rear making my offset +25. Hopefully I won't have any rubbing issues. I just love the way they fill out the wheel wells on art and manny's cars. Makes the car look like a beast. Although they actually need it for traction while I'm just going for the looks |

Lately I've also been wondering why the front of my car sits so high compared to the back o_O
The megan springs are supposed to lower it 1.6" front and 1.4" rear, but the front only appears to be about 0.8-1.0" lower. Any thoughts on why this is? Is it because the 7afe weighs less than the 5sfe, making the springs settle not as low? I know for a fact it weighs about 100-150 lbs less than the 5s. More mods and more pics please I can't help noticing that 3SG_____ in your plate, Is it a sign? Or can't you do it in California? Haha that's actually the original plate that came on the car in 1996. Just a coincidence. California has some pretty strict guidelines for swaps, but I'm still planning on doing a swap I'll find a way. This post has been edited by flyinglizard: Dec 15, 2009 - 4:56 AM |

What did you do with your boots, if I may ask? I think my mounts are probably okay, seeing as I have 79.5k on mine. I'm just not sure if the boots even need to be transferred, or what they're for really...protection against the elements?

My celica is no longer in pristine showroom condition
The other night on the way home I plowed a raccoon that ran out in the road at the last second. The area where the front bumper meets the right fender is completely smashed in and paint was taken off. I'll try to post pics later. lookin good! should get a new spoiler though.. possibly euro blocks in black or white on a 2-post That's actually exactly what I was thinking. I want the wing to be a little more aggressive but not like the gt-four or ss-III wing. I hate your car and I love it. I hate it because it looks so damn sleek, and mine doesn't (at least not in all angles) yet we have the same mods - except your rims are properly offset. I need some flusher wheels... And how did that dent behind the door happen? The original owner was broadsided and just the door was replaced. The quarter panel didn't have enough damage to justify fixing it i guess |

haha! nah, you go for it!
you've done a great job... the wheels are perfect for the car, the ride height is great, and the mods are all nice and subtle. You'd get my vote for Celica of the month -------------------- |
