There were two different types of sidemarkers. There were the USDM ones, in front of the tire like you are talking about. Those are all interchangeable. Then there are JDM sidemarkers that were behind the tires, in front of the door. You can't use those, but you can use any USDM sidemarker. I'd get pictures for you but I'm too lazy. Maybe look at my car in my sig. It's a '98, so you can see that it's using the same sidemarker.

Yes. There are some on Ebay, but I think you have to buy the front turn signal with them. Your best bet would be to get in touch with Wolfie. I know he makes clear front turn signals for the prefacelift cars, and he makes clear third brake lights. And he does an EXCELLENT job. He may make clear sidemarkers too.

No need to go to wolfie. Although clear side markers were never an option of our cars, they are standard parts across the toyota and lexus range (with a few exceptions) and were available in clear for other cars. Alternatively, there are plenty of ebay companies selling clear replacements. Beamer brand are OEM-look (right down to the diffuser pattern) but you can also get crystal clear and LED versions. Just need to do a little research.
