Is it bad to "bounce off" the rev limiter every once and awhile? Could it do any serious damage?

Also, where can I get a decent aftermarket rev limiter that I can manually set?

Thanks

What do you mean by "Bounce Off" the rev limiter? Do you mean like where it should cut off, you go past it? Because, even though it is a rev limiter, it isn't going to stop you right dead at that rpm, it is going to jump past it and then come back and be held around there. I hope that is what you mean, if not then I just looked like a huge idiot. Anyways if that is it, I can't imagine it being more worse on your car than red lining every gear as often as possible. It is still a car that is prone to wear.

mine don't got no stock rev limiter that's for sure but the bee-r is fully adjustable and also has a 2-stage launch control

Jeeez. It's $1,500 for the Bee-R

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bee-R-Rev-L...sQ5fAccessories

That's insane!

The flames out of the exhaust is sick though.

Is there anything that does the same thing... Minus a thousand dollars or two? laugh.gif

LOL Yeah! Just don't clean anything, run rich and let it go so it could start "camming".

think about it, if your dumping fuel into your car, its going to toast everything up.
yes the flames are cool but i dont think this is good for a daily driver. i mean you would be wasting so much more money on gas smile.gif

I love how you through that in lol. Doesn't your car redline at 6800 then rev is set at 8500?

Jeez. My rev limiter is at about 6250. Hahaha.

And when I say "bounce off" I mean rev it to the point where it can't go past the rev limiter and you can hear the rev limiter going off.. But only for a second.

wow, I'm suprised you can do that on a 5s. Actually, I saw that you drove a GT-S, and naturally assumed it was 7th gen lol, which is why I asked about the rev limiter on yours. Didn't notice the '96 part tongue.gif.

Like Random_Stranger said, letting your car bounce off the rev limiter is no worse than redlining in every single gear. The rev limiter is there to protect your engine. The thing about the 5S though, why would you let it rev that far? In my own personal experience, and I'm sure there are a great many people on here who agree with me, after a certian point the motor just loses power. I never drive my GT all the way to redline. It accelerates quicker if you shift early and let it rev in the meat of the power band. Then again, I haven't driven my car that hard in a long time. Just change your oil a little more often and you should be fine.

Off topic, but did I read somewhere that you are going to the Tail of the Dragon run? I gotta have a ride in that car. I'll, um, give you a ride in my GT in return.

Back on topic.
