I have -94 ST202 with 3SGE engine. Idle won't come down. It idles with warm engine around 1100rpm. I have checked almost everything:

1. vac leaks
- can't find any

2. cleaning IAC
- cleaned

3. error codes
- nothing

4. throttle cable too tight
- no no and no...

5. adjusting IAC
- Adjusted and no help

6. checking IAC does it even work
- checked, it works

7. selling the car and buy Nissan instead
- probably...

Can broken lambda sensor cause this?

I don't know how to check it on our cars, but the a/c has a setting to increase the idle. If you've had the a/c or defroster on, it will idle high.

The same circuit that will increase the idle can also be faulty, causing the car to idle slightly higher even without the system on.

I have no a/c.

Resetting ecu is just unplugging battery for an hour and put back and that's it? Done that...

have you checked if the thermistor for the water temperature sensor is working? or putting out the right voltage? it might be thinking it's cold all the time.

Well well... Earlier I wrote that "error codes nothing" but I just wrote how local garage said when thay tried to find reason for that. But I checked myself errors and found something.
BLING BLING.......BLING BLING
.....silence....
BLING BLING.......BLING BLING
etc...

Temperature sensor!! I'll get a new one and see how it goes. I hope that this is only Temporary-Failure.

mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I replaced sensor, reset ECU and no help. Still 1100RPM.

I checked fault codes and now engine light blinks quite fast and continuously.

edit:

I think I found the solution. I adjusted posture of the TPS and....... WORKSSS!!!!!!!!!! Now idle drops nicely to its target rpm.

But because I'm pessimist, I just think that I fixed problem by making other problems and real problem still occures altought it is not visible just now.

--------------

edit2:

What kind of mayhem car should run after resetting ecu? Before founding solution I resetted ecu many times. Car did nothing differently after that. It was basically normal start. But now after adjusting TPS, first start was very odd. Idle was jumping 200-300rpm somewhere 2000rpm very fast. It did that less than half minute and settled down. I gave a little bit gas and it started to jump around 1000rpm few times and then dropped idle to the normal. Same thing occured few times when I was doing test run. Maybe 10 minutes it acted strangely and now it works perfectly.
