Alright, so in a suggestion Im starting a new DFW Meet thread. Since Matt is no longer an active member (and Brady sold his Celica almost as soon as he got it), it left our meets in a kind of limbo. So I'm going to do my best to get some things going on here. Like I stated in the previous DFW thread I would like to get at least 3-4 good meets throughout the year. But I cant do it without your help. What I figured Id do is a ways before the meets, throw out some ideas, we'll decide together on what we want to do and do it! I also want to spread the meets around our area. We have a lot of room to work with, so lets take advantage of that.
In the next few days keep an eye out on this new thread for information. As far as the next meet I was thinking about setting it for March 6 weekend (first one in March). I'll update this thing here in a few days, also going to try to import some of the old pics over and whatnot.
Till then!
-Josh
Oh, one more thing...id like to keep this thread as free from clutter as possible. I know im just as bad as the next guy, so im going to keep it down on my part as well.

Alright. Its been a while now and Ive done some thinking. Personally I would love to do a cruise, but I kind of figured that some of the people who might be attending don't even know each other (other than what they know on here). So I suggest we have meet and greet type of thing, that way we all get to know each other. As far as the date I'm pretty set with March 6th (first weekend in March). Time and location still TBD.
1.) Lake Arlington, then cruise to "The Parks" (like we did last time)
2.) Grapevine Lake, then head over to Grapevine Mills (pretty much like the first meet...for those who remember)
3.) 2B's place. He has offered his place before, so I see no reason why to turn it down as a possibility (plus free food and minor maintenance!)

Considering this is pretty much a month and a half off, it should be plenty of time for everyone to make plans to be there (pending special circumstances), and it would be nice to have a better turnout than four members. So, mark it on your calendars!

As far as where we do this at, go ahead and PM me (or text) with which one you'd like to do and whichever one has the most response, we'll set it for that.

Its hard for me to plan way ahead of time since i travel alot with work, but usually I come home for the weekend. Though the weekend I try to catch up with family and run errands.

I will put that on my calendar and will look forward to attending the meets. I haven't done anything much to the car since we last meet because of winter and all. If you guys are willing to drive to my house in murphy, then I can guarantee plenty of parking and free food. There's a big drive way and maybe if you guys want to do some light maintenance then we can do that to - like oil change or whatever that doesn't take too long. Just putting it out there.

well...just because of location i would love to go to grapevine thats about 20/30 minutes away and murphy is about an hour....weekends are the best time for me...and planning it in advance is quite helpful to me. I want to be able to go, i just need a good couple weeks heads up.

(side note, this is pending that i have no tests the following monday etc...but i usually come home on the weekends anyway.

And btw, if driving out to murphy will be the only chance i get to see 2b's car, then i can suffer smile.gif the grapevine is me being selfish...but it also wont be cold then, what about grilling by the lake? just a thought.

I think Murphy is a bit far for everyone. Thats why I'm trying to bribe you guys with free food and stuff so I can be with the family and friends at the same time. Sorry thats just me being selfish. My dad is a mechanic also, so he can join us and help you guys with the celica. If you want a good price on mechanical work being done then he can give everyone a great deal too. I have plenty of tools in the garage that we can use if we decide to work on cars and great work space as long as it doesn't rain. I was thinking along the line of what Josh said and we can do a BBQ thing in the back yard. Like Josh said - This should be a great meet for everyone to get to know each other.

Oh one more note -- when you come into Murphy becareful of speedtraps and do a full stop at stop signs.

Hey, just to throw this in here....its the clipped video of the turbine run. Turbine Run Thread

After driving the route I found, I dont think the whole route needs to be followed. There are a few points where the road becomes a one lane two way road that is littered with potholes...trust me, I hit one while trying to dodge another. I did a slight revision so we pretty much drive the best parts, which only comes out to about 60-80 miles total. The only downside is we'd have to meet in Munster....and for most of us that's about 1hour and a half away (if not more). So it'll be alot of driving. I spent 5 hours today. So it'll probably come out to about the same...maybe less? Honestly, this is probably the best road to drive around here.
I had a great time and only had a few complaints (one being that bridge in the video). I might be heading out there again next month, to get some better video. So if your interested and have the time to kill, let me know.

Alright, got a reply from 2B.

The meet will be held at his house (I will post the address on here at the end of the edit).
The time its going to go on is going to be around 1100 with lunch around 1230-1300. What I need from everyone else is to bring some drinks, sides, desserts, etc...So, check the list to see what everyone is bringing as far as I know its going to be a burger burn. But like everything, it may change.
It should also be noted that these times are just a rough estimate, but if you want to do more involved work on your car (and we're not talking droping an engine or anything) you can get there after 0800.
1.) Spider77-
2.)Import1993-
3.)ZFJohnson-
4.)AkiraD1-
5.)Hazmat-
6.)CandyRed6GC-
7.)TinoCel-
8.)97Celiman-
9.)Fried-
The Location: 1223 Rodeo Dr, Murphy TX 75094
Time to Travel: From Dallas - about 35 min/ Arlington - about 50 min/ Fort Worth - about 60 min/ Denton - about 60 min. Keep in mind those are really rough estimates (traffic, actual distance, etc will vary). And please don't say anything about how "its too far"(not trying to be an ass) I'm driving about an hour plus to get there (and plenty of us drove the same for other meets). So if you want to meet up we can make a cruise out of it as well.
I would like to add more members to this list, so get a hold of me, cause it'll pretty much be finalized in two weeks!
Thanks.
