hey, the last year or so my car has always had some kind of clunk and I've done things which have made certain clunks go and then noticed other clunks after that, after my friend driving today and him driving a fair bit less smooth than I do because he didn't know the car, I noticed alot more clunks.
so far I've replaced front and rear engine mounts (side ones look fine) Shocks and springs all sway bar bushings have been replaced. have replaced cv boots before too long with driving them ripped. wheel bearing caused the worst clunk of all, one every gear change but thats fixed, all other wheels have absolutely no play. And from what I can see in the front end is every bit of rubber is still intact, nothing has play so it makes me want to explode, why do I still clunk? the only thing that I can think of is the strut mounts, they looked alright but they might of been worn, can they cause clunks on acceleration and de-acceleration? also torque specing any of the bolts, any of these important as everything at the front has come out at some stage and I've done it up tight. anyone else have any idea? thanks. |

I would be willing to bet your sway bar end links need to be replace, and it would be a good idea to replace ball joints and tie rod ends at the same time,.
if you do all this yourself it can be done with OEM parts for under 250, if you use cheap-O ebay parts for way less,, aligment is mandatory with the installation of these parts. -------------------- ![]() |

It's just they all look fine, the rubber around them is still all perfect. This post has been edited by Euphoria: Feb 9, 2010 - 8:13 PM |
