Followed Engadget's LiveBlog of the keynote and so far I'll say that I'm not that impressed.
The following things are very nice: 720p recording @ 30fps IPS panel on a phone Other than that though and I'm still waiting for HTC's new Windows Phone 7 devices. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

It's nice but I'm not all that shocked since this was all leaked weeks ago with the whole gizmondo thing.
But I'm getting it day one. App store/iphone OS/user mods are still untouched by any other phone. You guys in the US will get it earlier a few weeks since its not coming here till July. |

those look like 3d rendered images.. not the actual product.
i'm not a fan of the design. the previous design was better. i've been contemplating what to get for my next phone, but surely it won't be this. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I love Apple. Don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of Mac. I have two. But the iPhone just seems like a gimmick to me. I'll never have one.

Nothing to make me want to get rid of my 3GS for. Not that impressed really. I think it needed more to keep up with the android army tbh.
Much prefer the smooth, flat shape of the 3GS, this will feel much bulkier in your pocket. -------------------- |

True is I'm not iPhone fan... probably just because I do not like restrictions with iPhone related. I'm NOKIA guy for many years. Now using N97. IMHO damn good option if you want small cellphone with large touch screen for more than just making few calls .

I have the HTC HD2, the Australian version not the T-Mobile one, on at&t and it's WinMo 6.5. Last week though, Engadget Mobile leaked the upcoming device names for the Windows Phone 7 devices HTC will be launching. I don't think there was one for T-Mobile listed. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

I currently own a 3g, so I will get the iphone 4 because it will be compatible with all my current stuff ( calendar, music, 3rd party apps ) but in all honestly apple needs to step up the game, by a lot, Droid phones are catching up QUICK, I think droid phones have everything needed to be better, they just need better marketing and a bigger share of the pie for the developers to motivate them to develop more apps.
everything the iphone 4 does are ideas that came from jailbroken phones, multitasking ? backgrounder, video calling / Knocking live video, the folder for apps ? really ? I had that on my 2g, the only thing is really bringing new is a better display and the front / back camera. every other feature has been available on cydia. they are trying to advertise the ability to change the background, something that needed to be standard since the very first iphone, also available on Cydia. and eventhough knocking live video is video ONLY, no sound, is available everywhere you go, unlike video calling which is available only on wifi. almost forgot, yes it does have a 5.0 camera and HD quality video, but which smart phone doesn't have that nowadays ? If I had a 3GS I'd be hard-pressed to upgrade, but I have a 3G and it's passed its prime. I will probably upgrade to this. My coworker has the HTC Evo, which is large, but a very cool phone. If I wanted to switch to Sprint I'd probably get that, or the Incredible on Verizon.
This phone looks prettier than the previous 3G(S) in my opinion. The problem I'm seeing with Android is that manufacturers are skinning them how they want, and not all phones get the Android upgrade. Froyo isn't even on the Evo which is very disappointing. But I whole-heartedly agree the Android is gaining momentum. I think if the next iPhone isn't a BIG step up, Android might be eclipsing them this time next year. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Jun 8, 2010 - 3:07 PM -------------------- |

Im glad you brought up the Incredible cause I cant live without my Incredible, I had the iphone and liked it but even the new iphone has nothing on the Incredible. My 3g speeds are so fast and the 1gig processor is just unreal. Now before you say anything I have both an ipad and an imac and I like them more then pc but the iphone relied on a home computer if you did alot with it, with the Incredible I dont have to worry about it being a windows(google) based phone. As for the iphone 4 all I see that is new is HD shooting, vid con.(which is nice), and multi tasking, that isnt an OMG moment for me. Apple thinks that there the best and no one can compete with them at this point but google and microsoft are doing a good job. This post has been edited by hatchy_gt-s: Jun 8, 2010 - 5:54 PM |

I think before I buy this new iPhone I'll check out the Incredible, my contract expires in September so I will have some options.

Alright so I've had this phone for about 2 hours. so far I think it's awesome. It's a great upgrade from a 3G. All the little things the 3GS had, like compass and the faster speed, I've been doing with out.
First thing you notice is the screen. It's really quite nice. Biggest impact you can see is with text. It's crystal clear. GIGANTIC improvement. The speed of the OS. Compared to the 3G this thing is lightning fast. 512mb of RAM helps. The camera - BIG improvement. I had a 2.0mp and it was crap. 5.0 with autofocusing (touch screen where you want to focus) is great. So far this thing is great. A lot of people have reported the reception is poor, but i'm guessing you have a pretty strong signal in your part of the world?

Yeah there is a thread on Gizmodo where holding the phone in the lower left hand corner dramatically decreases signal, even going from 5 bars to losing service completely. I am not experiencing this problem at all, it's staying full signal.
