1 million miles oil test

I'm surprised at how little wear was on the engine after one million miles.

Im most likely going to be switching to this next oil change. Only reason i used RP is bc i heard for the past like 3 years from all my friends and friends in the import scene here is that it was the best.

Dude I'm an engineer in the Lubrication industry - I know of what I speak. I test oils weekly.
The problem is some of the additives they add into their oil have a tendency to eat away at the seals prematurely.
I don't wanna spend anymore time bashing RP. All I can say is they have a great PR team.
Stick with Mobile1 - the lube properties are every bit as good without the worries wink.gif
[And no - Mobile doesn't pay me anything - altho they should]

Oil leaks.
Do you want the engineering definitions or the layman's terms?

there is no signification gain of horsepower running mobil 1 or any synthetic oils.

However you will reduce the wear on your engine and have more protection if you forget to do your oil change. Synthetic oils can protect an engine past the 3ooo mile marker easily. Some car manufactures use a 15ooo mile oil change interval. So that gives you an idea how tough this oil is.

whats your opinon on valvoline and they're use of more sodium lately? I've been running max-life blend in my 2ZZ with good oil tests coming back.

My srt6 requires 0w-40 and recommends mobil 1. I guess I shouldn't feel so bad about the $75 oil changes now.

BTW I wouldn't waste the time or money on anything more than basic oil (or high mileage equivalent) in the celi unless you're turbo'd or supercharged.

Hanyo is correct about synthetic though, it does have a higher change rating. My car says 7000. As for the 3k miles, that was a scam cooked up by oil companies back when cars still ran on leaded. My trailblazer has so far gone 24k miles since the last change and not a single problem, although I wouldn't push a performance engine to that extreme.

3k was not a scam, it's a carry over from when oils and additives were not nearly as good as they are now. better living through modern science.

There was a hint of truth to the 3k change but it was based on early oil and only applied to 10w-40. It also only mattered in certain vehicles but it was adopted as the norm because of how common 10w-40 became. It's currently a scam for lube shops to sell more oil and no modern vehicle requires a change at 3000 miles.
