not a bad price i suppose... as an example I got my '99 GT for £8.5k, with 23k on the clock.. in April this year..
it depends on the full history and condition... i suppose. There's a list of things to chekc - you should be able to view the lists on the uk site - even i you haven;t joined as a member yet (to post in forums other than the newbies/for sale you need to be a paid up member) you can read al the threads in any forum. |

IMHO I'd think it may be a little over priced, I bought my 94 GT from a garage nearly 2 years ago, it's a UK and had 57K miles with a full Toyota history for 6k. It was (and is) completely standard and the only thing that went against it at the time were the tyres were worse than useless.
Have a look on the autotrader website at dealers and remember a set of new 17"s are 600 squid and a reasonable cd head unit it 150 squid, btw stock celica speakers are quite good. I've seen a few GT4's for 6.5k on the trader, fresh imports, the GT should be cheaper now. www.parkers.co.uk give a price guide, paste this link to your browser but oly accounts for a standard vehicle... http://www.parkers.co.uk/pricing/used_car/...=M%20&pay=false BJA |

£6000's not too bad especially when it's a UK car. You get penalised over
here when the cars an import, so your making a saving there! |

i think that it's a bit expensive - i got my 98 GT for less in march. Personally id rather get a standard car and kit it up myself. (I got mine from an old woman)

oh - and i forgot to say - that kindof mileage for a 94 seems suspicious - normally jap imports have mileage that low - or its been clocked - just my opinion.

I don't agree that much now with the statement you get penalised by having an import.. - well not so much nowadays anyway... (you used to !) Insurance companies, though specialist, are being realistic about them now (Adrian Flux, DIG etc..) and most Toyota dealerships will serivce them and get you parts.. the downside of the SS1, SS2 models is they are lower powered than the UK cars... if i was importing it would have to be a GT4 but 2 celicas is enough for now... |

the ss1, ss2 & ss3 are 177bhp thats about the same as the uk GTs. unless you have the Beams engine. 200bhp I got my 1996 imprt ss2 back in August with 45,000 miles on it and I paid £4000 so I would expect that the car your looking at is a bit over priced. |

4 years ago, my first Celica Gt was given a worst case insurance quote of £2200 thats almost 1/3 of its value. Now in 2003 with a GT4 it's around £800 (and that was one mutha of a search to get that on the internet), so I agree with you its getting better but only a little. As for parts and servicing my local dealership will supply parts but will not service it "as its specs are not to the UK model". Instead they pointed me off to the Jemcar Import specialists who are much more expensive than standard dealership servicing charges. I'm in London so we get screwed here anyway, your in the wirral, perhaps your people are more Toyota friendly up there. There is a saving to be made with a UK car in this respect Jon |

ss1 is 138bhp
as for mileage.. it's all about how lucky you are... I got my '98 SR in 2001, it cost me £10k with 29k on it. I got my '99 GT this ear with 23K on it for £8.5K.. both were mint. I did have a look around for a friend of mine to try and find him a decent GT or SR (not just the plain ST) - lots of SR's are available (considering there was only 250 of each colour) but very few GT's.. it might just be the time of year ? happy hunting - I'd suggest that you may want to travel further to get a good car if needs be. - I travelled about 100 miles to get the GT from the Leeds. As for servicing - I just travel to the Celica Clubs 'pet' toyota dealership techie.. it's an 80 mile round trip but i know my pride and joy is looked after. |
