So now that i got my car almost fixed....i realized that my car doesnt want to go over 122 mph.
is that normal or is there still something wrong with the car, maybe just the tuning.

even though the rpm is around 4500 4800, the car doesnt really go anywhere...just wanted to make sure if thats normal or anywhere close to other GT celicas

thanks

the correct answer to the topic is...

"slow".
and its called a governor which is causing it so you car wont go any faster.
your car isnt hitting 122 mph on the 1/4 mile strip either being a 5sfe so I dont recommend you driving 122 mph out on the streets my friend.

unless you have a swap or a 5s turbo your not going to get anywhere fast lol, and yes your governer is whats telling your engine to cut fuel to save its ass from damage. and no there probably isnt anything wrong with your car lol.

lol true that...
but i remember that when my brother had the car, he touched 133 with a effed up engine...and it wasnt just the speedometer saying that, the gps also clocked the same speed...so it really cant be the governor...i always thought that our celicas never had one?

yea they do have a governer, its what save your engine from people who want to set a land speed record with an N/A engine. ive heard of people going faster, but speed isnt everything, cars dont have to be fast in my opinion, looks will go a long ways in my mind.

5SFE's and 7AFE's are about as fast as a cheetah with 2 broken legs, let's put it that way.

A Celica may or may not have a governor. I don't know. I know what I have gotten mine to do and what it wanted to do. The only thing I know is that I've never hit a governor and I've done better than 122. Quite a bit better. The problem is that the 5S runs out of power before it can hit a governor.

Yes, the Celica GT really is that slow. But it gets killer gas mileage. I found that it's best to milk the gas mileage and forget about ever going fast. Ever.

Slower than my bone stock audi and the audi is painfully slow. I think my rx7 makes more power at idle than the celica does at full RPM lol.

My 94 gt-s can reach about 195km/h on the speedometer, but ive had a few friends follow me and they say im going about 220km/h which is about 137mph, maybe your speedometer isnt right like mine, most stock speedometers arnt that great after 150 or so km/h (90mph).

I have to ask this, why do you even want to go 140mph.... Even if you street race you still don't go that fast from digs or rolls.

Fast cars can get up to 140 very easily... I trap higher than 140 and street races usually go longer than 1/4.
