So I've been seeing alot of headers on ebay for pretty cheap but I'm a little sceptical on if they will fit correctly. has anyone else bought headers that fit and work well?
ATM I am looking at these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Celi...sQ5fAccessories This post has been edited by NYp8tBaller07: Feb 12, 2011 - 2:30 PM -------------------- Power in Balance 90 ST coupe- Sold 95 ST hatch- Dead :’( 02 Impreza RS- DD |

They all have to be modded. No such thing as a Celica ST header from eBay that'll be plug and play. They were all designed for the 7A in a Corolla. Just buy a header on eBay, they're dirt cheap. Take it to your local exhaust shop and they'll extend it for like $30.

Oh and what pert will I have to extend? Just tell them you need the end of the header extended to meet the exhaust. They'll know what to do man. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

lol I was expecting as much but I do have a aftermarket catback exhaust so would this make a difference? And I apologize if I am being a bit anoyin, this is my first car I bought with my own money (other was a 18th bday beater gift) and I just want to do things right and have a clean fun car I'm not expecting it to be fast, just a little better. Honestly, not really. CAI, header, high-flow cat, and full catback exhaust will net you MAYBE 10 hp. It's because our engines really aren't that starved for air, especially the ST. The reason you see hp gains of 20 or more from an airfilter in Subaru WRXs and Evos is because the air boxes are really restricting the engine. Like breathing from a straw. And because they're turbo'd motors. With CAI, header, high-flow cat, and catback exhaust, you'd probably see a 30-50 hp increase in a Subaru WRX or a similar car.
Edit: And don't worry about it man, we've all been there. Hell, I'm still half there. Lol This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Feb 12, 2011 - 9:02 PM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I'll be nice and leave you alone Hector
@NY you will feel a difference if you get a header and a new intake, it won't be much but it will make the car pull a bit better and sound wayyyyy better. |

you wanna do it right, you came to the right site. ! welcome! yeah, the headers don't do too much. You can't expect too much out of the ST as you may have noticed. but yeah, i see you got an intake put on the other day too. So intake and headers, and cat do give it a little bit more power. I also noticed you had some water in your highs. There's a how-to on how to get rid of that. I need to do that to one of mine real soon.

okay so I will most likely get those headers off ebay and I still need to find a good muffler(the guy who I got the car from put a stainless catback but put a stock muffler on) so I need to find something that give a nice note (no fart cans). after which Im going to a tune up (plugs wires) After all that I will be taking car of some small rust this summer and look for a pair of 15"
Cheela I will look for that how to but also how much does it cost to get low halo projections? -------------------- Power in Balance 90 ST coupe- Sold 95 ST hatch- Dead :’( 02 Impreza RS- DD |

with the header, advance your ignition timing to 15deg and run 89 or higher octane fuel. THAT will give you a feelable difference.

I plan to just do some bold on stuff, I really dont want to mess with my fuel and such. After the header im going to find a muffler then go to making the car lighter, as well as some interior stuffs

yes advancing the timing take 3 minutes and very easy to do. just loosten the 2 bolts holding the distributor and rotate it clockwise a little. its best to have a timing light to see what it really is. before i turboed erynns car i cranked it up to 15 degrees and it ran awesome! she had to use 91 gas though. 89 might have been ok.
