Ok, I want to go with an aftermarket steering wheel but then I got to thinking...the cruise control switches are located on the stock on. Hm. It should be relatively easy to replace the factory setup with one of my own design. 2 momentaries for the accel and decel, an on off toggle, and a momentary for the cancel. My only question is, how does the steering wheel interface with the rest of the car electrically. Its got to have some kind of sliding contacts so there are no wires constantly wrapping up on the steering column.

Has anybody had that stuff apart? I really don't want wires from the wheel to the column. We have to have them on the racecars for the radio and data layer buttons and they're a pain. It would be a real pain on a street car. I would really prefer to not relocate the switches. I suppose it wouldn't be a big deal to put them on the side of the column or something but it would be more trick to keep them on the wheel somehow. Any ideas?
