Short story: My driver side headlight won't come on.
Detailed story: I had 8000K HIDs, and the driver side was starting to lose a bit of color. I bought a set of 6000K HIDs to replace them a few weeks ago and finally got around to it today. I got 'em all buttoned up, it's perfect, everything's connected. Real cherry. So I start up the car and only the passenger side comes on. Several more switching on/off, same story. I'll also add that the driver side usually came on before, but sometimes it wouldn't and would take me a few tries to get it going. My question is: Could it be the fuse? I'm heading up to Wal-Mart in a bit to get some, it's worth a shot. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Edit: Both the old 8000Ks and the new 6000Ks are the same brand. Both Xentec, so it's quality stuff. The only difference is the 6000Ks have slim ballasts. The bulbs were protected with foam wraps and never dropped, dinged, tapped. The ballasts were cared for. So I'm highly doubtful it's the HID system. This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Oct 1, 2011 - 8:42 PM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

connect your stock bulb on the stock elec lines first, if it lights up then its your HID system

For what it's worth, Xentec is not quality. Did you get a whole new kit it just new bulbs? It could be an issue in the ballast but it sounds like you replaced the ballasts as well. It could be the fuse but those are kind of a worky/no worky thing, they don't just fade out like that. Nonetheless, they're easy to check so you might as well check the fuse. It's safer to run power wires directly from your battery to your ballasts so it's possible that a wire got cooked.

I tested the wires with an extra 9006 bulb I had and that worked. So it's either the HID bulb or the ballast. What a bother... Edit: Well I sucked it up and bought another HID kit. Xentec too... but it has a 2 year warranty. The first ones I had were Xentec and they worked just fine. These new ones, it's probably just a bad ballast. Try swapping your ballasts from side to side to see if anything changes.

Alright, turns out that it wasn't the bulb OR the ballast (I'm not 100% sure on if they work perfectly, but I'll cross that bridge once I solve the actual problem).
So the REAL problem is the connector for the lights coming from the car's power supply. There are two wires connected to it, a black one and a white one. Well the black one is loose. That was the problem. Any ideas on how I can re-attach it? -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

If not, I'll be making junkyard calls on Monday. Hopefully if I find a Celi, it has foglight stuff... -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Mine used to do that. Ended up being the ballast going bad.

Wait, it's a fog light? I thought it was a headlight. Any car with an H3 bulb will work, it doesn't need to be Celica specific.
