Like the title says I'm thinking about it.
Stef's 7afte isn't going to last forever. We have 4 cars and just bought a house a few months ago. Thinking of putting the 3sgte in her car (we have a spare s54 w/lsd), selling her 7afte stuff, and parting my Celica. GT-Four front end, side skirts, projectors, e153 from a 2000 Camry w/axle set up, JDM tails, coilovers, GT-Four front breaks, wheels, numerous upgrades throughout, everything will go. It's more cost effective to part and keep the motor rather than selling the car as a whole because Stef could use the motor. I don't drive the car as much as I used to and I really don't want to drive it in the winter in the snow, that's why I have the Rav. I still have the red Beams Celica so I'm still gonna be a Celica owner. Maybe over the winter it'll happen, I'm unsure. Thought & opinions ? -------------------- |

I hate to see it happen, as I'm sure the rest of 6gc will. A car like that doesn't get built overnight, nor does it come cheap. It would be great to be able to pull it into the garage as a weekend car. I know you've been thinking about it for a while now and whatever you choose to do will be the right decision.

As a long term member I think you should keep it
Think of all the effort you've gone through to put that together (blood, sweat, tear, and money) and now to part it out. Even if you dont drive it.. I reckon its worth keeping (It will bring a smile to your face everytime you open the garage door to see it - and will bring a bigger smile when you drive it in summer) Surely you can find a new hobby to keep you occupied -------------------- 98 ST204 ZR - Black Beauty - Roaming the streets of Sydney 73 TA22 LT - Tiffany Blue - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 75 TA22 LT - Snow White - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 77 RA28 LT - Flubber Green - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 94 MX-5 NA8 Clubman - Red Racer - Looking for corners WIP Project: 69 RT40 Corona, 2nd WIP Project: 66 RT40 1600s Corona 86 Corona RT142 - Daily Driver 6GC 4 Life Baby!!! |

its difficult to say, it depends on what u want, if space u need, then sellin the car as whole wont get you a lot.
parting is a long process, and tedious, but if you have the time. you can put the gt4 hood on the beams celica and bumper too, or you can sell the beams celica... im sure there be a lot here that will buy it. having 3 celicas can sometimes be overwhelming, thats why i sold one and ended up buying the mark ii, which i was not planning on doing. im keeping the converrtible, not selling it, it does not affect, good here in TN, i can just register and drop insurance, since i dont drive it anymore, but i know some states they need to be insured.. if you sell it, will u miss it? you need a 1st gen celica and do a black top beams.... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I would say stick with the plan you've already written out. Sounds sound, keeps you in the celica game, and you get what you really need. Win win IMO.

As much as I'd hate to see it (I grew up on this site reading your, Stef's, and Manny's builds) it sounds like you know what you want to do and a good way to achieve the goal. By dropping the 3SGTE into Stef's car and parting your 6g you'll be killing multiple birds with one stone; 1) extending the life of Stef's car and keeping that lovely 3S in the family, 2) getting some more space in the garage and having fewer cars to worry about, and 3) recouping a bit more money than you would get selling as a whole.
Good luck with it Dustin and if the prices are right...I might try and purchase a part or two. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

I'll echo the sentiment of not necessarily wanting your present Celica in pieces, but on the other hand, I'd surely put that 7A-FTE kit to good use.

Well being an ex 3rd gen 3s owner I still kick my self in the a## for letting mine go as you will prob do the same. I know you said you would put it in your wife's car but in a way you would still be letting it go because you couldn't just get in it and go lol. You've put a lot of hard work in that car to make it were it is today, and taking it apart would prob depress you even more. If your wife's 7a is not going to last that much longer why don't you just sell hers and let her keep the beams, because the beams has low miles and would be more reliable then the 7afte and prob is just as fast. And as for the 3s I know they are very reliable because I had mine swapped for 10 years and never had to open it up just basic mantaince. So just another opinion sell hers and give her the beams or sell hers and give her yours and you keep the beams. Then you wouldn't have to put the 3s in hers, and you would be able to keep the rare and expensive jdm parts, because they are getting more expensive and harder to find because our cars and getting older every year lol.

Steph would not sell her car. IIRC, it's her first car, and her baby.

Selling my car is not an option. This decision was him wanting to get rid of his car, parting or selling as a whole are the choices he has come up with. Yes, parting it would be to my benefit and that's the only reason he is considering that route. I have not and would not pressure him into selling his car to benefit me because I would not be happy if he did that to me and my car. He has been thinking about this for a while, the first time he brought it up to me my response was that I wanted him to think about it for a long time, I wanted him to drive his car more and think about it more, I wanted him to be absolutely sure this is what he wanted and he will not regret it.

Just tell him to take a drive in it and I'm sure he'll think of a million reasons to keep it.
