Im trying to race legit, I want the st205 wrc all trac gt4, but the only thing i seem to find is half of the car, or the engine.
I came across a full 3sge beams swap, and dont know whats really better. someone tell me about the ss3 beams? EIther way, i figure the beams is the next best thing, and might even be cheaper. whats your thoughts? |

First of all, always go with what you love. No one can hold you back from your goals except yourself. Big goals like obtaining a 3SGTE swapped Celica comes in time. Second of all, if you're trying to race legit, why settle for second best? Thirdly, the Beams engine is a 3SGE motor and was debuted in the SS-3, the black top Beams was debuted in the Toyota Altezza (aka Lexus IS300) in Japan. They output as much hp power as a 1MZFE V6 but torque band is different. It has VVT-i and high compression ratio compared to your standard 3SGE motor. Fourth, Beams motor is pretty much close to your standard naturally aspired motor (7AFE and 5SFE) when modifying. Pretty much bolt on parts. Superchargers are always nice to throw on when it comes down to force induction. But why go that route when you can swap in the 3SGTE motor and have even more potential for the same or less amount of money. Fifth, do what your boots can handle right now and don't stop chasing your goals. It's what makes you who you are.

3sge beams motor is great. not even close to a modified 5sfe motor. If your in orange county I can show you the power of a beams motor. SS-III superstrut suspension is great from what i've seen and read, although finding coilovers that suit it are difficult. You can make a custom coilover setup by purchasing hotbits racing coilovers. a replica GT4 will take you longer to build but more power and heavier car. you have to look at it this way. Do I want a fwd celica or a awd celica? N/A is hard to squeeze power out of and turbo is quite easy.

You can only find half cuts and swaps because that's all that is legal in the US. You'll have to go to Canada to get a GT4. Even then, you can only have it here a limited time as a race car, only legal on tracks, before having to get it back out of the country. Your best bet is to swap and Fortunecookie summed that up well. If you're willing, you can do an AWD conversion as well

first off you are in California, i know you said you want to race legit, so im assuming you wont be smogging this car. cause if you were then neither the 3S-GTE or the BEAMS will pass. now on the other hand, if you put a 1MZ in there you will have no problems passing, and it makes just as much power as the BEAMS.

For performance the 3sgte is a MUCH better option in almost all aspects than the 3sge beams. Where in CA are you?
