I just realized that I need to pick up some bolts in order to mount my engine to my new engine stand I just bought.

Any ideas the size of bolts I need to pick up? (I'm obviously going to get grade 8 bolts, and I think they need to be course/fine thread, and maybe 3 1/2" in length - but diameter I'm not sure of)

Halp? kindasad.gif

Hoping to mount the block on the flywheel side of the engine... (like normal) tongue.gif

Take one of your 17mm tranny bolts to the hardware store.

3/8''-16 x 3-1/2'' - should do the trick.

Sounds about right. Thanks bsamps4!

?
shouldn't it be metric?
if it is close to a 3/8- 16 it is probably a 10mm 1.5

to clarify the 10mm probably has a 17mm head. A 3/8 -16 may actually thread in a ways but it
is a smaller diameter with a different thread pitch so you could damage the block threads
if you use those.

Actually Randy; you're right about it being metric, but it was a 12MM 1.5 thread! I don't remember the length I got them in, but I ended up getting them too long and had to use extra washers so they would bolt up nice and tight... biggrin.gif

Sorry I forgot to update this thread!

yeah 17mm head sounds more like a 12mm.
