Howcome you want the widest tires possible?
For a fwd car making such little power its really doing ore harm than good. Heard of users running 8in width 18's. I think thats a little extreme. 7x17's are what im running. More room to go too.

What do you mean you wanna run a 255/40/17 on a 7.5 wide wheel? Is that what you mean? Or go with wide wheels like 9.5 wide wheels all around?

I am really shooting for a 275 out back and 255 or so up front. Depending on the shock placement of the supra subframe which with the a arm design i should be able to play with it a bit and i am keeping my wheels and having the rear widened

Don't think you'd run a 255 on a 17 lol, that would just be rediculous.
Prob wants the widest wheel/tire combination possible. I think 9 is the widest of seen as of late. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

Yeah thats what i thought but wanted to confirm this isnt a crazy thread trying to fit a fat tire on 7 inch wheel lol But runming a 275 tire on the back is still crazy. I think you could go up to 255 using a 9.5 wide wheel all around but you still will have to pull the fenders out. (The front ones more) And its a front wheel drive car so it doesnt make sense to run wider tires on back. If you are really doing this just run the same size all around and put more power to the car. Well thats my opinion and im running 8.5 wide wheels all around and attempting to install 9.5 wheels all around because i still have more space with the 8.5 ones -------------------- |

Just thowing ideas out there and i already have everything for the swap and sold my 3s fabrication and making everything fit is of no concern to me the engine was already set in the bay and firewall amd shifter location measureing has been done given the other projects i have taken on i have little fear of making it work i guess

Celica rears are pretty wide... I'd dare say at least a 245 fits back there... I think I've seen 17x9 wheels on these cars. That said, you could always do fender pulling or custom widebody fender flares. That'd look nice.
I mean, if you're going for some kind of extreme swap (V8 RWD Celica is extreme enough for me) I don't think you should worry about what the widest wheel you can fit is. I think body work (wheel fitment in particular) is much easier than drivetrain work... IMO your best solution is cutting fenders to slap on fender flares. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

I'm behind ya on this, put that fatest most obnoxious tires on it that you can, you are the only one that has to like it, and if you dont like it, change it!
Why does everyone have to ask "why"? Guess that falls in line with " you cant do that" when I hear that it just make me want to do it more!! This post has been edited by michlowrider: Jun 6, 2012 - 8:24 AM |

Sorry, didnt mean to imply anything, doing it cause it looks good, for performance or for your girl friend, your reasons are your reasons!
It just bugs me when you ask "what time is it" and someone wants to tell you how to build a watch or wants to know "why do you need to know what time it is" (if you follow me!) I'm glad to see you got an answer! This post has been edited by michlowrider: Jun 6, 2012 - 10:47 PM |

A 255 will be stretched on a 9.5" wheel. I had 275s on my old SC300 with a 9.5" out back -------------------- www.tweakdperformance.com

Id bet you will be looking for a wheelie bar before you need something like a 315.
I say a quality compound 255 with a properly tuned suspension would be a decision youd be happy with. Or keep the 215s on there and enjoy frying some tires with proper rwd doughnuts across the parking lot |
