5-spd 99 GT -

When I turn it on the car shakes not too rough and for only like a second but, it is definitely noticeable. Same type of shake when I turn the car off.

Had the battery changed a couple months ago and getting the spark plugs changed this week --> not sure it will make a difference.

Any ideas what it may be, starter, alternator? Thanks in advance.

Starter and alternator are not likely causes. Any vibrations at idle or if you rev the engine up? It sounds like a motor mount issue.

Your rear mount is bad, probably the front now too.

thanks a lot. How much do front and rear mounts go for? is it better to source from a junkyard or should I order new ones from Toyota? how difficult is installation?
getting springs and shocks installed this week but, now I'm debating if I should get the motormounts and do it all in one shot.

yes - there is slight vibration at idle and when shifting into 1st/2nd. that's it

$40-50 apiece new, not bad at all. I think they're $50 from Toyota and $40 from Rock Auto.

I think OReilly ended up having the best price in my area. I want to say it was $20 something

front is easy to inspect so as rear.

there are aftermarket replacements for mounts.

installation for front is pancake, rear is a between tricky and PITA, takes some maneuvering.

motor mounts are not related to suspension so it does not have to be the same time, its not like one of those things where you might as well change it while you are doing something else. but you do have to change it eventually...GL
