I kind of don't care. I think it's plenty fast in the city. It lacks the torque off the line but once it moves it's fine. It also sounds very trashy when the 5SFE is singing its upper registers and runs out of power.

But I agree, it's a good looking car and I don't really race people..

These things were never designed to be race cars... so you can't really complain. I personally like getting 36-38 mpg on the road...

holson: If the 5SFE doesn't have torque form a stop... I don't know what you gots under your hood then. The 5SFE has one of the best low-end powerbands of most 4 cylinders to date... although that usually doesn't help a car go fast... it plenty helps a car drive well... Try driving a D15/16/17 or B16/18 series Civic or Integra in the city before you complain about torque. Low-end torque is probably the only thing we can say we have... ;]

What are you talking about man?

My GT4 kicks ass and so far nothing has matched its overall image and performance. Even guys with Evos and Subaru's that are heavily modified aknowledge the superiority of the GT4.

Not designed for racing? Remind me again who was winning all those races and championships in the early nineties. if you see other cars in the category you will see that Celica is indeed built for racing. In my country which is a small island, we had 7-8 dead people from accidents. all with Mitsubishis or Hondas.

A friend of mine was hit in the side with 80 mph and he lived. the car was heavily damaged but he had only a concusion and some bruises. (his had a yellow 6gc). Another guy i know who had an integra was hit in the side with 50 mph and the car was split in two and was killed instantly.

You have 6gcs with very bad engines in the states. If you like more power just spent a couple of thousands and get a 3SGTE engine and bolt it on. You would need to limit down the boost though because your car will be a beast. A friend of mine put a modified 330bhp 3SGTE engine on his 6gc and the wheels were spinning in 4th gear.

yeah you have a gt4. That is a race car. The celicas we have in teh US are very underpowered compared to the gt4. Like 100+ hp and torque lower.

I also have a Curren ST206 (Celica liftback) with the SS II engine JDM. 170-180 bhp and gas mileage is quite good. Furthermore, comparing the two of my cars, the final drive of the GT4 is better and i get better mileage than the Curren when i dont spool the turbo all the time.
for ex. the fifth gear of the Curren does 90km/h at 3000 rpm and the GT4 does 115 km/h at 3000 rpm

hmm i guess no1 cares about performance. yea i dont really race ppl, just when some1 always rev their engine when theyre next to me. its just disappointing when i know i cant beat any of them, which make my car look like a ricer.

ohwells.

and i dont get how ppl here always try to race with their 6gc, and keep saying stories of how they lost.

my celica was faster than most cars i came across

with the right mods you can make them faster than a majority of the market(i would say my car was faster than 90% of cars on the road)

If I had wanted a fast car, I probably would have bought something else. I love the sexy looks though—and honestly how many women know this is a slow car? Most of the women I know think it looks fast, and must be fast, so they like it.

Plus its fast enough that I can kill myself pretty good. Anything with a larger engine and I'd probably be dead right now.

I know im slow, so? My good friend has an RSX who allways ratted on my car for being slow. He got a ticket for 73 in a 35 and his parents took away the car for 3 months, now he wants my car because it looks better and he wouldnt speed in it. Who needs to go fast? I want girls smile.gif its a great driver car, just not as fast as the best thing on the streets, but I couldnt have afforded that anyways.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 205 chassi didn't win many races... and was swapped over to a more competitive chassi (corolla hatch). The 205 chassi lasted what... 1-2 years? It didn't have the success of the 185 and 165...

'That" celica yes... along with all of the other high-powered ST205's and 202's with their performance oriented suspension... In the US... I'd hardly call them race cars...

So Toyota's are immune to accidents in your country? In the US... Toyota Camrys get stolen more than any other car (2003 at least)...

A swap would be nice... but a little bit impractical to everyone, short of real enthusiasts. As for a swapping to create a more powerful 'racecar' IMO, the 3sgte isn't the best track engine (although it can be very good)... I would prefer a high-revving n/a over a turboed beast on the track. I also find it quite funny... when people always suggest a swap. I've heard that all too much, and even though it's an excellent motor and a swap isn't all too difficult... when I want a powerful car, I would much rather build a n/a racing engine myself...

All in all, my last post merely states, the car is the way it is, and is an excellent set-up for driving. If you wanna race, you're driving the wrong car (although with work, can potentially be a nice track car).

i have to agree with this isnt meant to be a fast car over in the US market. but it is much sexier than most other cars. personally i prefer the curves on a 2g eclipse, but the tail lights are ugly as ****. celicas still look better than any civic\integra ive seen around here. plus there are only 2 other 6g celicas around where i live and 7094712340927 civics\integras\eclipses\mustangs
