Celica GT-FOUR Link of 8, Need advice on replacing my figure link of 8 bushings Options

Hello, I just bought a 96 gt4 and was told when i got it that the figure link of 8 bushing needed doing? i saw the part on tcbparts.co.uk, but i was just wondering if i just need this part or something else as well? So if anyone could tell me a bit more about this problem that would be great thanks

Replace both sides for sure. Whats the mileage on the car? If its in the 60k miles range, you might want to consider to replace the lower control arm where the figure 8 is attached to. Its a very expensice control arm but that one is usually the one that gives some knock from the front end

The figure 8 and lower arm can go at the same time, but its not a hard fast rule, nor is the theory that if one side goes, the other side is on its way out too.. I am a firm believer that if it aint broke, dont fix it. these are expensive parts to go about replacing "just in case"

Testing the figure 8 is easy. you'll need a friend to help you. with the wheel off, you need to hold the figure 8 in one of two places, firstly hold the joint between the figure 8 and the bottom of the shock absorber casting, then get your friend to twist the brake calliper as if they were trying to turn it with the wheel, rock it back and forward, if you can feel movement at this joint then the figure 8 is worn. Then hold the joint between the figure 8 and the lower arm, again get your friend to rock the brake calliper, if you feel movement at this joint then the lower arm needs replacing.
