I've been in the market for a miata for a while now and I've found one I really like. Problem is, its red. I've always had white/black/aquamarine (my '64 impala) cars. I'm concerned that I'll get more attention from the po-po with a red car. Anyone care to comment? i drive real fast here in dallas, but the cops are pretty laid back about speeding, they have better things to do. When I'm on long road trips I'm usually doing 5-15 over if the conditions are good and traffic isn't bad.

I usually do 10 - 20 kmph over the speed limit and never have been pulled over.
Only time I've ever met with cops on the road is a accident that happened right in front of me, then I stopped to see if every one was alright, being a good citizen and all.

If you're speeding and the 5-0 want to pull you over, they will no matter what color car you're in.

Yeah, but are they more inclined to pay attention to your speed?

My car is Red and I have a long drive from home to School everyday and i can tell u that the cops really don't care what color your car is I on average go about 90-95 in a 55 and I've never been pulled over once I was going 70 and a white car was going a little less than me and the cop pulled over the white car. So I don't really think that color makes a big difference any more.

I beg the differ. if you driving down the highway and run into a patch of other colored cars (whites, cremes, pastels) and your in a red car swerving a cop is gonna nail you like a pornstar to uhh... another pornstar?

anyways just my opinion

I say red is bad- when i owend my yellow focus i never got pulled over once in the 2 years i had it, and i drove like a maniac seeing that i had just got my license when i got that car. Now Ive had my celica since august and ive been pulled over 5 times, and only one time was resonable- doing 70 in a 50... all the others were bullsh*t reasons where the cops only gave me warnings seeing that 2 mph over is so important to pull me over for....

I had a red MX-3 GS for a year and got pulled over once and because I was doing 75 in a 50. Unless cops are dicks they dont bother you, occasionally Id have a cop following me but never anything that Id consider herassment. In my mr2 Ive never had a problem, Im sure that will all change in the spring";)

I think they are more inclined when your driving a psorts car period. Though Im sure they are just as quick to pull someone over in a Buick. I just think from a distance they will be paying attention to the kid in a sports car over the old guy in the buick.

They bother kids that have tricked out rides more. As far as the yellow focus goes, I would think that a yellow car stands out more than red...

I have a red celi now and I speed a little bit, listen to my system pretty loudly and have had no trouble. You seem like a responsible guy, so I really don't see any problems unless you are doing something that really deserves to get you pulled over. Besides, red is not really a color that stands out as much these days, there are a lot more red cars now then there used to be.

red does attract the attention of cops.... is phsycological

the color red catches the attention of the eye faster than other colors

so if you and 6 other cars are speeding the cop will notice the red car first.... he isnt being a dink but only submitting to the tendencies of the human brain

just like sports cars will be pulled over before sedans will.... because they look like they are going faster.... stupid human brain!

I think that color plays a part in cops' attention towards you, along with if your car is a sports car or not. I've been pulled over probably 10-12 times in The Celica, and gotten one ticket out of those times, and that was for impersonating a police officer, not speeding or anything. Most of the time I got pulled over for stupid stuff like not having a front license plate, going 34 in a 30, turning into the far lane like everyone else instead of the close one, etc.

Now for the past five months I've driven a gold Audi 90 that has never had a front license plate, a green '00 Camry, and a red Chevy S10. I drive just as fast in these vehicles, and often faster because I know I can get away with it. And in the last five months, I have not been pulled over once.

This statement can be true and untrue. A lot of cops will just aim their gun and set it for a specific MPH over and take care of paperwork. From the cops I talk with at work it is generally 7 over.
