So right now I'm debating on selling my celica for something quicker like a DSM or Vtec honda. But I really do enjoy the styling and intertior design of the 6g. The only problem is, it's a bit slow for my taste. I also hear when you sink about 3k into boosting a celica, you can only achieve 14s in the 1/4. So how much boost can a 5sfe handle on stock internals? And how hard is it to get faster then ohhhh...say a Z28?

I'll tell you this: your 5s will never beat a Z28... unless nothing on it is even similar to a 5s.

Yeah competing with an 8-cylinder muscle car is jsut not going to be in the GT's future. I dont think you can really boost more than 6 or 7lbs.

I just finished boosting my 5sfe and I am dialing in on the dyno at 200hp and 258lbs of tq at the wheels at nine pounds of boost, on stock internals. It is safe on stock internals, you just need to make the appropriate upgrades. Follow the instructions on the thread to turbo the 5sfe, and you will think it was worth it if you do.

Total, TOTAL bullshlt. Don't listen to these people. Its never going to run 9's but the 13 sec range is definitely not out of reach. A properly built and tuned engine with a well set up suspension could be made to do 12s.

There is absolutely NOTHING about the 5sfe or the 7afe that prevent them from making the same power as any other 1.8l/2.2l import engines. I wish everybody would quit whining and hating and try to learn something.
