Hello guys.
About 1 week ago I got some strange problem. Engine rpm goes to 7750 instead of 7250 and an engine light turns on. I have AEM FIC 6 installed and Apexi Gen 1 RSM. Removed AEM FIC and have same problem. Apexi RSM as I know doesn't have remove rev limiter function. personally I don't think that's it's an apexi problem. What do you think guys? its definitely not the RSM, its just a REV SPEED METER. the FIC doesn't raise the rev limiter either. im guessing the crystals on the ECU might be going bad.

Thanks If it's a problem of crystals in ECU , there's no chance to repair it? Should I change an ECU or what? Also can I install MR2 GT-S 1995 ECU just for testing purposes? p.s engine is working fine on that rpm, not a starting problem or any others like that. just rpm goes to 7750. Just shift at 7,200? It's possible to repair the ECU, but for what that'd cost you could just buy a new one.

Can an increased RPM be caused by damaged knock sensor?

Can an increased RPM be caused by damaged knock sensor? no it would be the opposite, the ECU would be in safe mode. i wouldn't worry about it, just shift around 7000 RPMs -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

whats telling you 7750rpm? i find it hard to believe the ecu will allow that

removed AEM Fic, removed Apexi RSM and still the same RPM.
After that installed 1995 GT-S MR2's ECU, and RPM goes to 7400-7500 not 7750. funny is that when I removed MR2 ecu from my car and installed it in MR2 again, MR2 has the same problem RPM goes to 7250+. ))) BTW I have a damaged knock sensor, check engine light is on after 3000 RPM and as I read it probably caused by damaged knock sensor. Rusty CODE factory ecu? could be a remaped/plug in ecu? I have AEM FIC installed in my car, but it's the same if I remove AEM. Smaay Thanks. delusionz tachometer is telling. Also Apexi RSM. -------------------- |

again you are worrying about nothing, when i had an Apexi RSM on my 7th gen, it would hit 8500 sometimes with the stock ECU. and then sometimes it would only hit 8300.

I'll shift on max 7K RPM or something, but do you think it's a wiring problem of RSM? -------------------- |

no the RSM has nothing to do with it.

The check engine problem was solved by replacing a knock sensor.
and on my rpm problem I found this one: https://www.assembla.com/spaces/3SGTE_ECU/w...n_Modifications CODE Standard rev limit is 7400 RPM (The stock rev counter is not that accurate so it's widely reported the rev limit is 7200-7250).
There are 2 places in the standard code that implement the rev limit: By changing the 94h to a higher value, the rev limit can be increased. To calculate the value required take the required rev limit and divide it by 50. For example: 7400 / 50 = 94h 7750 / 50 = 9Bh This post has been edited by Red123: Apr 30, 2013 - 5:17 PM -------------------- |
