So I'm searching electronic boost controllers, trying to figure what would be the best option as well worth my weight in gold. I'm stuck between the Apex I AVCR and the HKS EVC 6. But maybe there are better and more reliable choices. Can anyone help me out with this and give me as much info as you can. I.E. controller, website, ect?

Thanks guys you rock.

If you can afford it, hands down the EVC-6. At first i was an apexi fan, and you can attest to that...But installing the EVC in my 240..OMG the awesomness..

Go big or go home, huh?! haha

I've heard AEM Truboost is simple and reliable..but judging on your selection, you want all the bells and whistles.

I still need to research a little more to figure out exactly what I want, too..hopefully, we'll get some good insight here thumbsup.gif

Whether its the EVC 6 or not I'm open to any suggestions, lol. It doesn't have to be that per say especially if there are better, equal, and inexpensive options to choose from

I have not much to compare because I have been using just one EBC for 8 years. It is Greddy Profec B-spec II (http://www.greddy.com/upload/file/PRofec_Bspec2.pdf). I'm happy with it since it can change boost (high boost / low boost) just with one button. In fact when "deactivated" (again by one button push) I can have 3rd level of boost available (so: stock - low - high). That is what I really like. In the other hand setup in not much user friendly because you can not simply add "target boost" but must using values like "gain" and "set gain". that make configuration less comfort. I needed to google two tutorials before I at least undestood what to do with that smile.gif.

Anyway I do not know how other controllers (functionality or easiness to configure) so can only talk about this one and can not say how good or bad it is in comparison with others.

^This is the best one. This or anything with a dual solenoid.

These old profec B units are also great because they used a dual solenoid and are very easy to setup.

The problem with a lot of the other brands is that they are very difficult to setup, and you might end up getting very inconsistent boost.

Just time consuming it too changes settings based on gain + - I just don't have the patience to fiddle with it

i got the gfb geforce 2 because it was cheap

its actually an awesome unit,

once you understand how an ebc works, you see how awesome it is.

on my unit, duty cycle is very linear for a certain range of boost pressures past spring pressure, so easy to use

gain you give it some numbers, go for a boost and keep doing that until boost spikes past your duty cycle peak boost, and dial it back a few numbers. then u got quickest spoolup possible

Mike,

Been doing a lot of reading on the GFB g force 2. That thing sounds amazing man. I wouldn't be suprised if the price on it doubles, after they've saturated the American market. I'm gonna scoop one up quick before they get the bright idea to jack the price.

It's not the best, it has its quirks, but it controls boost very well, i hit parts of the rpm-vs-pressure map that ive never hit before with a boost tap

overall very happy with what i got for what i paid

it should help your launching a bit too, i have it setup how they recommend too with the staged boost,

i've got all 6 presets setup in increments of 10 duty cycle, though for me i only need 2 options low boost and high boost, but for you, i suspect you'd have 0 for 1st, then a setting for 2nd and 3rd/4th etc

i use a setting for warmup, a couple different settings for different types of gas and my on/off boost setting is scramble boost for 7 seconds which is equal to my highest stable setting on preset 5, i use preset 6 as experimental - for example a higher setting that gives more boost/better spool during the day, but isn't usable at night because it spikes

the AEM gauge is nice and it matches the UEGO so it gets my vote, but personally i dont use EBC, i dont trust them. I have a mechanical bleeder valve to change the boost
