So I'm going to start putting together the engine soon and I've already got the crank polished and new bearings bought. Machinist said I needed std bearings, and that the crankshaft was good, but I still want to check for clearances.

I have no idea where to buy plastigauge so any help is appreciated.

Any automotive parts house should carry it.

Internet?

Definitely, but I was asking more about maybe a specific vendor or online parts store, etc. Or maybe someone on here who could get some locally and have it shipped to me, me covering all costs of course.

My local machine shop said "it's been a LONG time since we've carried it", but they knew what I was talking about.

Puerto Rico, the area I'm living around right now due to college is pretty limited in most stuff. I'm going to go check in a local autoparts that carries most of everything and see.

You can always do it the proper way meassure the crank journals and rod caps do a bit of math then figure out what clearances you want then choose the bearings.

Plastigauge is a crud way, but better than noting!

I'm going to use it to double check my machinist's words. The journals (mains and rods) should be within spec using std sized bearings according to him, since they only needed a polish.
