ok so I have a guy finishing up my swap and he sent me an email today with some issues, figured I could post it here and get some advise.
The only problem is the damn key on power issue. I changed out the EFI relay with one I had still the same issue. It seems to be n the key switch but cannot confirm it because the one out of the fifth gen isn't the same. I pulled out the suspected problem the plastic bit at the end of the key switch. I wiggled it to see if it was loose or so thing and it fell apart. Here's a link to what's happening before I took it apart. http://youtu.be/dP1mM_orTPc When you turn the key on to acc the check engine light and the oil light come on dim. When you put it half way between acc and the run position they light up solid. When they are lit up solid there is power at the ecu like it should. Once its completely on the run position the check engine light goes out and you lose key on power. Turns out there was no key one power at the ecu, pin B+ in the ecu pinout. That power supply comes inside the car. All the fuses are good so I will have to check a wire diagram to see what is causing this. Still cannot figure out why you do not have b+ power at the ecu. I'm still jumping the terminal at the diag box to start the car. Nick, Made some progress today. Got it to the point were I can crank it over but there is no spark. I changed to coil and ignitor out and I think it safe to assume its not the problem. I check all the fuses, made sure there is power at the both the coil and ignitor. It got dark and started to rain so I called it a day. I will do some research tonight see what if anything I've over looked. the pic is a noise filter.
i have the stock FPR here, let me know where to send it, ill try and get it out this week to you. use a stock 5s coil wire, the 3rd gen wire is too short (as he found) -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Have you checked your EFI main relay to make sure that it is closing when you turn the key to the on position? If this relay is not working properly then you will not
get power to B+. I would most likely start there and test the legs underneath of the EFI main relay to ensure that it's getting power at all when you turn the key. Thats the quickest way to tell if you've got a bad relay, or an issue further up the line. This post has been edited by bsamps4: Jul 29, 2013 - 6:56 AM -------------------- |

I had a very similar issue with someones car recently. Turned out that the big EA1 plug in the main fuse box was not locked down all the way and was causing all kinds of funky ignition issue like in your videos.
So check that, and check that you have a ground wire going from the battery to the chasis and from the battery to the transmission. This is an overall power/grounding issue. There is nothing wrong with your key cylinder. Its just your electronics acting crazy cause something is not plugged in or grounded like it should. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
