Good Day peeps,
As of lately, I have been hearing a hounding sound coming from the engine bay. Once the engine is started, there is no sound however once you touch the accelerator pedal, you hear it. The sound stay there but after a minute or two it goes away. Also when I apply revs to the engine the winding sound does not up in pitch with the engine. Could it be the rear engine mount? I'm not sure. Could you guys assist? Thanks in advance. |

could be low fluid for the power steering That would happen when he turns the wheel and it would make a different pitch. We have limited info to go on but who knows..lol -------------------- @floordauto

The pump will whine when it gets low enough on fluid regardless of whether you are turning the wheel or not, but the sound will still change when you turn the wheels so he probably isn't having that issue. It might possibly be the bearing on any pulley for the accessory belt. It's virtually impossible to diagnose a sound over the internet, so we need something more specific. OP, if you can tell us which side of the engine bay the sound is coming from, if it's high or low in the bay, high pitch or low pitch, etc. we could narrow it down.

I'd check belt tension, idler pulley, power steering etc...

Bad bearing somewhere, you need to isolate where though. Alternator or AC clutch would be my guesses but it could even be part of the timing belt.
