Hey everyone, I just thought that I would share this with you, as a few members have expressed some interest in coming down... *coughDanielNobertocough*
Celicatech is hosting our annual Tail of the Dragon Run for 2014. It is similar to what Manny, Dustin and Stef restarted with the CSP meet this year. This has been a tradition for the last 8 years and we would like to extend our welcome to any and all that would like to come out. I have been the only 6g there for the last 3 years, I'd love to see more out there... This year, the wifey and I will most likely be in our ST165, so we need some more 6g love! The date is March 28-30. For those who don't know what the Tail of the Dragon is: We have secured a group rate for lodging at Fontana Village and Resort under the group name 'Celicatech' If anyone is interested in coming down, we'd love to see/meet you! Aside from the Midwest meets that Daniel and I host, the Tail of the Dragon meet is one of the best events that I attend all year. It has become more of a vacation with friends than an actual car meet, and its generally full of shenanigans and good times. If you guys have any other questions, feel free to send me a PM. Thanks! -------------------- ~bloodMoney

Sorry... I'm two weeks behind in getting this up here....
We typically aim for April, but everyone over on ctech was kinda slacking on the resort contact and everything in April filled up quick. -------------------- ~bloodMoney

Was looking at doing this in the late summer as a detour on the way to Hilton Head SC. Sadly this is too early for me to be able to join you guys.
This made me want to go... http://youtu.be/4zzgkSVHxRI |

I'm changing jobsites again, and maybe a different job altogether. I'm not sure what my schedule will be like but I have to attend a Dragon meet.

I've been wanting to take a road trip for a while. This is a good bit of distance but doable, especially if a 6gC meet and one of the best roads in America is at the end. I'll have to see what work dictates. Would be fun to meet you guys.

Bah. 13 hour drive... It hasn't stopped us.... In fact, for the last 3 years, we've driven from Chicago to Atlanta first, then caravanned with a bunch of the guys. Seriously though, driving this road will ruin you for driving. After my first year, I got home and immediately searched for the curviest road around. Little did I know, that it my best option is where we hold our Midwest meets every year. -------------------- ~bloodMoney

Little did I know, that it my best option is where we hold our Midwest meets every year. If I wasn't possibly making a big move in my life this spring I'd go down there, my mother lives over in Knoxville. I went down one year with an Eclipse forum but the day of the dragon I was sick as could be and had to pass, 300 curves in 13 miles with a migraine and nausea wasn't going to happen. The day before though we drove some other roads and I had an absolute blast down there, lots and lots of roads around there besides the dragon that are loads of fun. Sadly our petite dragon is far far too short. If it were about twice as long it'd be good. If you get of 80 in Morris IL and drive along the river down the road that runs past the Dow Chemical plant you get a really good drive, not as curvy and technical as the dragon but very fun, laid back but with some challenges. -------------------- |

Do it. Tentatively, done. I requested a few days off before and after, so I should be free 28-30. Looking forward to it. This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Feb 4, 2014 - 9:12 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

How is this going to work with reservations and such, large group rooms or individual booking? I saw on their site they had bungalows of sorts and stuffs.
Edit - I just checked Celicatech, I see people are kind of doing their own thing as far as grouping goes...so a 6gc cabin perhaps? I have to confirm if I can get that time off in order to even make it there. Would love to go don't know when I'd be able to take that much time off seeing as it's so far away, we need something like this in texas haha.

Typically, we all get our own cabins as long as they are available. Otherwise there are 2-3 bedroom cabins that should be available as well. Personally, I wouldn't stay at the lodge, as it is a bit of a hike from the cabins and that's usually where all the drinking happens... So if there are a group of 6gc-ers that want to get a cabin together, the 2+ bedroom cabins are basically small homes.

I'd be in for doing either a cabin or lodge with a few other people, I'm traveling alone so there's no reason to get a room for myself.
