I'm not big on remakes either. Every now and then you'll have a good remake, so I'm willing to keep an open mind until I see it.

Remakes of the 1980s -- stripped of all social commentary, satire, and emotionally-disturbing violence in exchange for generally thoughtless blow-em-ups with pretty CGI and prettier actors.

The rating dropping from R to PG-13 suggests pretty clearly they're not going to try too hard to include a bloody civics/philosophical lesson the way the first movie did...

I totally agree, everything Hollywood remakes is just ruined for the most part. it'll be another cheap knockoff that they predict to make a certain amount of money
off of just because they know that a certain percentage of the people who loved the old Robocop will come to see it just to see if it's as good as the old one. even if you don't like it doesn't matter, you paid for it anyway.

but I was thinking just the other day that the new Ford Interceptor that the cops around here looks like something Robocop would drive. Cops out here have the SUV model

6th gen Taurus

Robocop is one of the very few movies I wish there WAS a remake for.

The storyline and action in the original is fantastic, however the claymation robots were what always put me off about it. A little bit of CGI there would have gone a long way (obviously at the time that was impossible).

However, with the way movies are essentially being regurgitated by Hollywood these days, I have a feeling this will leave a sour taste.
I think Hollywood is just plain out of ideas frankly. It's either bad originals or bad remakes and that's all they're putting out barring a couple movies on rare occasion.

A Robocop remake (due to graphics primarily), I can see a "reason".

Why Terminator remake though?

I'll see the new Robocop movie when it comes out on.... ehem... my friends computer lol.

http://jalopnik.com/5491850/2012-ford-poli...cop-replacement
funny I found an article that says the first Robocop car really was a Taurus.

and then I saw another one that said the car in the new movie was a Dodge.

but I swear I saw them driving that new Taurus last year and thought "Robocop", long before I even knew they were remaking it.

I have seen it already and honestly I don't know. It's different movie from many aspects. As movie it's not that bad but as remake with legacy...?

you naysayers are NUTS. That last robocop movie was GREAT! the very subtle references to the previous robocop were humorous and not forced. (i.e. prototype designs for robocop actually incuded what appeared to be the original from 89 as well as another version that had those blue and red lights on his back) While it didnt have the gore that I was hoping for, it was a good story and VERY provocative from a socio-political POV
