Well...I took the Celica to the doctor. My mechanic (trustworthy honorable honest man who has been working with my friends for a while, specializes in Toyotas and VW) replaced the plugs and wires and replaced my valve cover gasket. That is exactly what I wanted.

The bad news was the idle is horrible (i felt this but just played it off). He was talking and I was typing so I typed this:
"idle one cylinder toasted intake valve on number one. pull the head and do a valve grind. perfectly driveable. idle is bad. vacuum signal is wrong, check engine is out. did not come back."

So it looks like I'd need a valve grind but it's still driveable. But it will progressively get worse. He said it could be anywhere from 1100 or 1200 to 1500 depending on where it gets done.

So I talked to my parents. They almost crapped. My family doesn't have a lot of money, and this is simply something that cannot be done for us. So it's either, I drive it until the problem gets worse and something ELSE happens. Or I sell it. My parents want me to sell it, they also said they would help me buy something new. They kept giving me the "this is what happens with a near-10-year-old car" speil. I couldn't put up a fight. I didn't know what to say. 1100 dollars is farfetched. It seems hopeless. I am probably going to have to sell her. 77k miles right now, automatic. Nothing is REALLY set in stone. But would you want to drive something you KNOW has a problem and is gradually getting worse and worse that you CANNOT fix.

My mom did say I won't be getting another OLDER car. So I might look into a seventh gen Celica, because I'd love to stick with Celica. Does anyone else have any ideas. Probably looking for something 1997 and up. Something sports. Seventh gens come to mind, possibly another sixth gen. Prelude also came into my mind. Anyway...let me know what you think.

Sorry to hear about it. If it were me I'd look for a used engine. It's cheaper than the rebuild and a lot cheaper than a new car. We got one for my friends Tercel for $650 with 50k on it and a 3 month warranty. Install shouldn't be too expensive.

But if it comes to it, I'd look for a 98+ GT 5spd(even 2000+ GT or GT-S). 97+ Eclipses aren't too bad either(not the new ones, don't like those), or look at the Matrix, Scion xB(more SUV style than sports car, but I like them).

Whatever happens keep us posted.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33617

that would be a 7afe head for sale. I don't know if it's any good, but maybe it is.

4-6? I could get another engine, that would be the cheapest option. But mother wants me to get something new for a warranty and whatnot. Probably a seventh gen. Nothing is set in stone. However if I do sell it, FallenHero, I will trade my clear turn signals for a set of stock ones. I am changing everything back to stock except for my interior and calipers.

Dude that BITES frown.gif

Sorry to hear about all of this, hopefully you will find another car that won't break the bank. I was looking to get a new 04' Celi. GT but $24K for a car is out of the question, so I went to go look at the MR2 and man that thing is expensive, $28K for a 2 seater! With that u can get an EVO 8 or WRX. So I hope you find a good deal cause my toyota Dealership is ON CRACK:P.
I'd hate to see you go, your the one who told me about 6GC.net in the first place.

Well good luck, BTW, I would really like to trade turn signals with you smile.gif
So....I CALL DIBS!

Not sure. Today decides if I really am gonna keep her and work on the engine or sell it. Chances got higher that I'm going to keep it, simply because nothing beats the style of a 6gc.
