Hey guys,
I just wanted to confirm, are a lot of the interior plastics actually polypropylene? I thought they were ABS and bought ABS epoxy (broke a tab off my tweeter cover) and that didn't bond whatsoever. Silly low surface energy plastics... I think JBWeld Plastic Weld works for PP - has anyone ever used an epoxy that worked? -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I used Permatex Plastic Weld to fix the lower left corner of the top center console piece where it had cracked all the way through.

I used Permatex PermaPoxy and it did not bond at all after a 24h cure. Currently attempting with Loctite Plastic epoxy (though I noticed after applying that it shouldn't work on PP). Even shaped new sections of plastic that chipped/broke off And sanded it down and painted to make it look just like the plastic too. Those haven't broke either |

Another thing that'll help is scuff the bonding edges with 200 grit sandpaper and then wipe the area with denatured alcohol before applying the epoxy. Which if you have the space to place and wrap it around the fractured joint you could use fiberglass mesh with a compatible epoxy, though not having had one with tweeters I imagine the tabs for the cover are fairly small.

Very, very small. The most I could do is scuff and and clean. There isn't even space for my thumb and forefinger between the tweeter walls and the tab itself. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09
