lol, sure, it can be done...but why???? I know a guy in cali that wants to build a 510 with a diesel that runs on recycled french fry oil....great engineering feat....BUT WHY???? (and don't say the environment....you cant tell me a ULEV pollutes more than a french fry burning diesel)

this question was more for those celica owners over seaes.. alot of counties use propane just as much or more then gas.. I know alot of people in the U S might not know this but propane is the a very much used around the world.

and my question wasn't if it could be done or if it should be done.

propande(as I understand it) burns too hot for a gas engine. I have seen many diesels with it though.

not a huge feat. there are companies online that sell vegetable oil conversion kits for diesel engines for well under a grand and they are pretty simple to install. lots of people use it apparently... and supposedly the original diesel engine was designed to run off of plant oils..

He'll still have to run diesel to start the engine, and before he shuts it down... so don't let him protest the pumps quite yet. wink.gif

french fry oil actually burns something like 40% cleaner then normal deisel.... plus your car would smell like mc-dicks all the time....

here in canada some municipal trucks are using the old fat.... costs less and burns cleaner.... mmmmm.... french fries

Yehp we got a rental in Hong Kong, can't remember the name of it, but it had this same type of feature. You flipped a switch and it ran on propane...pretty cool! My Dad also had to deliver an older bus once to some company across state and I went with and it was hell trying to find a place that sold propane for it to run on cuz it needed a certain kind. Argh!
