hey, i'm the owner of a 1994 celica gt with the premium stereo system. today i installed a new headunit, bypassing the stock amp and running the speakers off the amp in the headunit. getting the little blue connecter out from underneath the amp and removing the 2 clips wasn't the most enjoyable task, but hey - no pain, no gain. after wiring the harnesses together, i realized that the largest speakers on the doors (predominately for bass - at the bottom of the doors, i don't know the size off hand, sorry =/) aren't working. the mids, tweeters, and speakers in the back are working fine. i tried reconnecting all of the speaker wires again, just to make sure nothing was loose - but it appears that there isn't even wire in the harness for these speakers (nothing seemed to work). mad.gif

(also, the yellow memory wire from the vehicle's harness held no power under any circumstance, but this problem was solved by running a 12v wire with an inline fuse off of the battery.)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you can trust me on this Zack. You dont need to use the headunits power....the Metra harness i linked uses RCA plugs to send speaker signals(not power signal) to the amp under your drivers seat and also to the one behind the dash (second stock amp).

Just plug in the two stock amps again and get rid of the generic Toyota wiring harness, then order the Metra 70-8112 that i linked. The old harness wont do you much good for your specific application, and the Metra 70-8112 will make for a direct plug and play installation and great sound quality. wink.gif Then return all the speaker wiring and the yellow memory wire as well back to their stock locations. Then simply connect the Metra harness i suggested to your new headunits outputs and plug it into the factory plug and thats all there is to it. smile.gif

Any questions let me know....If you do it this way it makes things sooo much easier.
