So I was removing my steering knuckle and I had to rotate the strut (still bolted up on top) and it makes this loud rubber? rubbing like noise.. is this normal? seems to be the same on the other side as well.
I'm just trying to fix up my 94 GT to be road worthy again. It need a clutch, replacement steering knuckle, and I think the front main seal is leaking pretty bad. -------------------- |

Unfortunately you tended to drop the aim of the camera whenever you turned the strut, so I couldn't clearly what the spring and boot were doing. Looked like the spring was turning with the strut when you twisted the bolt holes to the right, no idea what it was doing as you turned to the left.
I'd still guess at the spring twisting against the top spring seat. There's a lot more compression on the front springs, even with the wheels off of the ground, than on the rear. If you're lucky, the spring is twisting the spring seat insulator. If you're unlucky, the spring seat is twisting against the strut mount because the keyed opening which holds the shaft has rounded out. This post has been edited by Galcobar: Mar 18, 2013 - 2:51 AM |
