hey just bought my first celica and am looking for some help to get it running how i would like. the front cv joint clicks while turning so i have got myself a replacement drive shaft and am going to change it out over the weekend. the only issue is that its passenger side and all the how2s i can find seem to deal with drivers side onle. its a 1997 2.0 gt uk model with abs. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
cheers Vinny |

im guessing that means there is a difference in how they come out of the transmission, depending on what side of the car its on?

The short shaft has a c-clip on the end, and requires prying out, or using a slide hammer with a fork on it. The longer shaft is simply held in place with a bracket in the middle, and just slides in and out the trannie without a clip. Either way, both sides you are going to disconnect them from the wheel assembly via the axle nut. I remove the strut bolts so I have more room to move the hub around. Once you remove the bottom end from the wheel assemblies you just go at depending on which you are working on. The one with the clip can occasionally be a pain, if it takes you more then 30 minutes prying to get it out, I would go find a slide hammer.
