Hi folks, i have a couple of quick questions regarding upholstering.

I'm planning on re-upholstering my headliner with synthetic leather (which is the easy bit) and was wondering has any one else re-upholstered their sun visors? and how would i go abouts doing this? I was thinking maybe I should Contact Cement the material to the sun visors? i don't want the headliner to be black and sun visors to be grey lol

any help regarding the matter would be greatly appreciated biggrin.gif

Ray

p.s apologies if people have milked this question already! Can't seem to find anything on it though

I used black suede....mixed with sawdust from my dirty bench wink.gif

I tore all the old stuff off and sewed a tight slipcover to slide on from the fat side to the side with the mount

cut the fabric and pin it inside out using the visor as a template.
I used one piece and folded it over the bottom of the visor so the only seam is at the top.
Then sew with a machine.

Note: The visor is tapered...it is thicker on the one side so you have to sew the cover strong...it will be a bitch to slide the skinny end over the thick end...just make sure your stitches are tight

This left the side where it mounts to the roof wide open (like a pillowcase if you get the concept of a slipcover).

I am still considered whether to cut out the fabric from around the holding clip...just haven't got around to it yet

Next was the hard part....I actually got my mom to hand stitch the end shut for me (the truth comes out)

I think she did a pretty damn good job
