Sooo... Iv almost finished on my interior (jus gotta finish wrapping front seats) and plan on starting on exterior this summer. I really want something done with the rearI lights.
Currently using tinted OEM lights. The JDM ones seem to be common on here and I'm not too eager on the afterburners. So my question is what other options are available? was thinking maybe an Audi R8 rear lights conversion? can it be done? ld love to hear everyones opinions on this and other possible options. Ps I hate supra lights on celicas and will NOT consider them at all lol -------------------- "whoever said progress was a slow process... was probably talking about me" |

hey man if you do decide to go with R8 taillights, its best if you look at the bigger picture and try to make the lines with with the lights, best way is to custom make a wide body, at least for the rear and make it look a little more like the r8, do some sketching in plural, you dont want to just make one design and then have an idea for something better and try to modify that to make it have that extra idea, instead make another design and apply that idea to it, then think about looks and aerodynamics, do you want it to function or just for looks? often times you need to compromise on function to get better looks, and vise-versa, thats why its good to sketch your ideas, when youre happy with one after sketching more than 2, buy some clay and make a miniature model like the size of a 16.9oz water bottle to get your dimensions right, and when youre happy with it use it as reference to do the same on your car.
I highly recommend you checkout S1kryd on youtube, he made a custom supra with a ferrari rear-end, the method he uses isits very good, but time consuming, Id probably use foam and for the rough shape and then use some clay to get the details on. I have a set of 2009-2012 bmw 3 series projector headlights I plan to put on my car, but I have to rewire them, since Im not going to need the self leveling parts nor non of the other moving parts, and Im also going to make my own LED turn signals, because I refuse to buy an used oem set for over 400$ lol(thats another thing you might want to consider, make sure you have an idea on how much the taillights are and all the bulbs, before you start spending you time designing something you cant afford), it takes me like 4 hours to open each headlight, so ill see when I get enough free time to open then rewire them. and thats another thing you need to consider, if you cant get the wiring harness youre going to need to rewire them to make them plug & play as far as the electrical goes. ONE MORE thing, before you tackle on a big job like this, and you have never done anything with fiberglass, I suggest you do something small, maybe a sub enclosure, that way you see the pros and cons of working with it, then if you dont mind the cons, and also know if youre up to the task, and see how lond it takes you, that way you know how long of a vacation from work/school you will need to do this. -------------------- white 1997 Celica GT***FOR SALE
