Hey guys, new here, but I thought this would be the best place to seek out advice :P
My Celi right now is totally stock, but my father knows this guy who does powdercoating on race cars or somesuch, and he said he could do the rims on my car. I did a bit of research on powdercoating because I didn't know what it was for the most part at first, and I've seen mostly positive reviews. Does anyone have any real cons to it that will impact my car or its performance? Any experience, good or bad? Suggestions for any other exterior styling? I'm looking to start making my Celi my own, and I wanted to get the rims done like a dark red. Yay or nay? The car is black, I have a photo of it uploaded on here. I shopped a couple of pictures of the shade I'm assuming the guy has, just to get some idea of what it might end up like with some color on it (kind of messy since I used a touch pad but whatever.) I was originally going to do gloss black but I feel like it would blend in with the rest of the car too much, and white looks like it'll be hard to keep clean-looking. So, help me out? -------------------- 1996 ST Hatchback 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT |

Powder-coating, yes go with it. As far as colour goes that's up to you. I personally feel wheels should stay in the neutral colours. They're sort of like shoes, even though the colour of the shoes match the outfit if they're non-neutral in colour they will stand out. If you want the wheels to stand out and distract attention from the rest of the car then go with the red. If you want the wheels to compliment the car then consider a dark metallic gray perhaps.

The actual color going on the rims isn't going to be quite so bright; it was described to me as a dark red, like apparently the color of blood. I do want something that stands out, just not something so bright that it would burn to look at. I can understand the lean toward neutrals though, it would flow nicely. I just want something with a bit of contrast to it that will set the car apart. -------------------- 1996 ST Hatchback 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT |
