I read it as you were useing the fact that it had a gear driven speedo the reason why it's couldn't be an e-153. I don't think it's a e-153 tranny myself. Could possibly be s54 tranny with an aftermarket diff. If it was a caldina tranny it would have a stamped metal 5th gear cover and a bolt on shifter cable bracket.
